🔊 FROM A MERE NOISE — 26.09 What can happen from a mere noise? On 26.09, we’ll be joined by Stephanie Fernandes, Gabriel Francisco Lemos and Regina Riveros for an evening of reading and conversation around sound, language and poetry. Three different practices, three different ways of listening: to the city, to machines, to the body, to memory, to language itself. Join us to discuss how sound and language interact and merge, what makes language material, and stay for a drink in between performances. 🔊26.09 — from a mere noise* Doors open at 5.30pm / readings start at 6pm (in EN / PT / ES) Späti Karl & Marx Berlin (S-U-Bahn Neukölln) 📍 Karl-Marx-Straße 221, 12055 Berlin * Initiated within “Context – Staging Literature”, a project of Unabhängige Lesereihen (The Association of Independent Reading Series). Funded by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes (German Federal Cultural Foundation).

🛟 SAVE THE DATE(S): [I SPEAK AS A TWIN] AT OPEN SPÄTI This format explores innovative concepts for literary events, and we're looking forward to launching the trial phase of "Context – Staging Literatur" with our series. "i speak as a twin" transfers poetry into everyday urban spaces. The sound scape of the room becomes part of the performance and interacts with hybrid forms between lecture, performative intervention, sound and different languages. Two evenings, two different ways of approaching language, and a third day for us to write together. 26.09 — from a mere noise* A reading and informal conversation around sound, language and poetry. (EN / PT / ES) 17.10 — writing day A day devoted to writing and reading together. 07.11 — desiring into existence* A reading exploring desire as a force in language, imagination and making. (PT / EN) More on each of our readers coming soon 👀 Save the date(s)—we're looking forward to seeing you 🍻 * Initiated within “Context – Staging Literature”, a project of Unabhängige Lesereihen (The Association of Independent Reading Series). And, on the final day of @48stundennk, join us @ivallansbooks for an experiment in relay-reading! Fourteen tremendous Berlin-based poets will perform continuously, one after another, weaving fragments of previous readings into their own. Together, we will create a porous, reverberating field of poetry: an unborder, an anti-border, an anti-non-bordering-un-border (and I can't wait to hear how that sounds)! We begin at 4pm sharp and do come early to grab a seat ☀️

New on the website: Yessica Klein’s two poems, ‘I’d Like You To Meet The Brazilian Sun’ and ‘1989,’ explore different aspects of Brazilianness with humour, nostalgia, pain, and frustration at once — where the ‘Sun always has a joint’, but fair governance can feel unreachable.
