The Fiat Multipla is a contradiction. It’s called the ugliest car in the world, but at the same time it’s a great family car; spacious like a living room. This Multipla transformed from car into sauna; from one social space into another. Inside you hear the music of Sun Ra, the cosmic afro-futurist. The Saunra is meant as a joyful healing space for our troubled times; a place of warmth, hope and humor.

My favourite time of the year, when Summer fades into Autumn. Swimming in the abundance of tomatoes, figs, pears, quinces, and many many apples. Summer was challenging with some painful reality checks, but thankful for the hard and the beauty that is always around and continues to open the heart ❤️

This summer, we’re diving into the archive — revisiting a series of past exhibitions that continue to shape our programme today. Explore more on our website.

‘The Community Live in Nottingham’ was curated and organised by @thecommunityparis, a Paris-based multidisciplinary art collective dedicated to promoting experimental and progressive artistic practice, working across art, fashion, music and publishing.

Extending their interdisciplinary approach to Nottingham, The Community transformed Bonington Gallery into a site for learning, experimentation and production through a programme of free to attend weekly workshops and activities. Sessions and events were delivered by an invited group of internationally prominent artists, musicians and creatives, with everything taking place amongst commissioned artworks, spatial interventions and an accumulating array of creative output.

Artists and practitioners included @ethanass, @laetitiabadauthaussmann, @yesyesbernstein, @tenantofculture, @cyrusgoberville, Philippe Hallais, Ruby Hoette and @nkisiii

David Bernstein - He/Him - @yesyesbernstein

David Bernstein (He/him, 1988, San Antonio, Texas) is an artist based in Brussels who combines performance, sculpture, and writing to tell stories through objects. His projects deal with a range of subjects: psychology, hospitality, fetishism, and spirituality. Next to his individual practice, he collaborates with a variety of people and participates in building community at Shabbes 24/7 (Belgian Jewish diasporist queer collective) and at Level Five (Brussels atelier cooperative).

Essential reading by @azoyizes on how the framing of antisemitism as something ancient, permanent and intangible is politically convenient for the far right and Zionists: a strategy to deflect and divide.

“As Jews, we must urgently move away from vertical alliances: relying on the state and its machinery of violence to keep us safe,” writes Fenya. “Instead, we should build horizontal and intentional broad based alliances between Jews, Palestinians, Muslims, migrants, working-class people, and other racialised and oppressed groups, resisting the politics of division and scapegoating. Safety comes from collective liberation, not conditional state protection.”

He is crushing the solidarity movement for Palestine; gripping the moon, a symbol for Islam, and pressing a judenhut into an Anti-Zionist Jew. Judenhuts were hats that Jews were required to wear in medieval Europe by Christian dominant societies.”
