In swimming competitions the Call Room is where the race starts to take shape. The mind locks in, the body gets ready, and the energy in the air is unreal.
You can hear the roar of the crowd from your previous races and feel the total silence of the room. You can watch the swimmers racing before you on the screens and feeling the excitement build up second by second.
Then comes the journey to the pool deck, following the path straight to the starting block, ready to leave everything in the water. 🔥

With all the online discourse around what went down on SNL this week, I couldn’t be prouder that at Sephora, we stand for something simple but deeply important: no one should experience hate because of how they look (including how they dress!)

Hearing Singapore’s very own Paralympic gold medallist Pin Xiu alongside OG beauty creator Preeti last week was such a powerful reminder that challenging bias starts with all of us.

Beyond campaigns and conversations, it’s how we show up for each other in the littlest ways, every single day.

More empathy. Spread hearts, not hate. Always. ❤️

@sgsmu today hosted @eileengu ⛷️, the most decorated freestyle skier in @olympics history 🥇 her first speaking engagement here in Singapore 🇸🇬, in my alma mater #sgSMU I graduated from 👨🏻‍🎓 Signed up as @sgsmualumni 🙋🏻‍♂️Thanks SMU Office of Alumni Relations for organising this epic second edition of the @karimfamilyfoundation Inspiring Women Leadership Series with support from @musimmas_group , inviting this inspiration on many levels to our campus 🏫 Sat with @smuaquathlon training buddies @eugeneljj & @iiemiy, reconnected with fellow #sgSMUAlumni like @paralympics Champ @yippinxiu 🏊🏻‍♀️ and @picklebandbones’ @adrianangjy around this powerful conversation on 12Oct26 🙌🏻 She runs too! 🏃🏻‍♀️

When #EileenGu cited #neuroplasticity I took notice 🧠 I was introduced to this concept in chiropractic graduate school at @shermancollege 🇺🇸, but her eloquent response at #MilanoCortina2026 WinterOlympics on 23Feb26 made into a sensible sound bite - "You can control what you think. You can control how you think, and therefore, you can control who you are… With neuroplasticity on my side, I can literally become exactly who I want to be… How empowering is that?"”
Empowering Eileen was at @sgsmuyphsl 🤩 Moderator & SMU President Prof. @hi_lily_hi_lo cited neuroplasticity from the get-go 👩🏻‍🏫 Not only did this three-time Winter Olympic gold medalist share on peak mental performance in sports, she emphasised how “it only happens if you believe it” 💪🏻 She reminded us the Latin phrase “Dubito, ergo cogito, ergo sum"”- “I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am.”

“Be whatever fish you want to be” was her sound bite today on success 🐠 “Stop looking at the other fish… be your own fish!” Important to uplift yourself and those around in the “pond”, being the best version of yourself so you can provide most value & help most people 🤗

Her love for her supportive mother, proudly sitting in the front of SMU Hall, was evident 👩🏻 Gave insights as a parent myself entrusting responsibility: when Eileen was young her mom gave the choices, then when Eileen was older her mom gave her freedom to make the choice 🙋🏻‍♀️ Who is around you affects your world the most 🙌🏻

Happy to have met some amazing Singaporean athletes this Singapore Grand Prix. Naturally, the biggest inspiration I take away is from other athletes. We compete to win, and we juggle so many things to get to where we want to be.

I take huge inspiration from these incredible sportswomen:

(1) Shanti Pereira, Singapore’s Sprint Queen! The first woman to win the Asian Games 200m twice and a two-time Olympian. @vshantipereira

Yip Pin Xiu, Singaporean backstroke para-swimmer. A seven-time Paralympic gold medalist and seven-time World Champion. @yippinxiu

Jessica Hawkins, 2026 British GT4 Silver Champion, @astonmartinf1 Ambassador, Head of Aston Martin’s F1 Academy programme. @1jessicahawkins

Our new cashier had his first practical today. 🧡

And he was VERY motivated to do a good job because there was a reward waiting for him at the end. You probably wouldn’t guess what it was. 😂

I’d been preparing Ryan for this for about a month, complete with his 7-step Cashier Mission because he’s much more comfortable when he can see exactly what he’s supposed to do.

The actual practical, of course, was a little different from what was on paper.

He followed his instructions rather mechanically at first and probably stressed a few customers along the way 😂, but everyone was incredibly patient and let him work through the process step by step.

After a few rounds, he started getting the hang of it.

I did discover one fairly major omission from my Cashier Mission though:

Step 8: STAY AT THE BOOTH.

Because every time I needed my cashier, there was a reasonable chance I’d have to go looking for him. 🤦🏻‍♀️

It was also a hot, HOT day. I think I’m about 20 shades darker than I was this morning. But what an amazing Central Singapore Market.

Teachers, principals, fellow Pathlight parents, friends and visitors came by and gave Ryan plenty of real-world practice. We also got to meet @yippinxiu which was a particularly lovely moment for me to meet her in person.

By the end of the day, he was definitely getting better and more confident at his job, even as both of us got progressively more tanned. 😂

Thank you to everyone who patiently gave our new cashier the chance to do his job properly, especially when doing it properly meant going through ALL the steps.

And his hard-earned reward?

A trip to United Square.

To Popular.

To get a new Math assessment book. 😂

Nope, that wasn’t my choice. Simple things like this make him SO happy.

I’d say Cashier Mission #1 at @centralsgcdc @arcs.pathlightschool was a success. 🧡

We will bump into each other at functions , events etc but we try to catch up at least once a year over a simple meal - hence am so glad we could do so today. These two swimming and bowling champions have achieved so much over the years for Singapore and for themselves. And for sure, we have not seen the last of their achievements ….
