Visible light ≠ UV light. That distinction matters.

Yes, visible light entering your eyes helps regulate your circadian rhythm and sleep-wake cycle. But that does NOT mean your eyes need UV exposure to regulate your hormones, stimulate melanin, or protect your skin from burning.

Your skin produces melanin largely as a direct response to UV exposure of the skin? your eyes don’t need to “see UV” first. And there’s no good evidence that wearing sunglasses during peak UV hours suppresses melanin production and makes you more susceptible to sunburn.

What is well established? Cumulative UV exposure can damage the eyes, which is exactly why UV-blocking sunglasses are recommended.

Protect your skin. Protect your eyes. Wear the sunglasses, especially when UV is highest. 😂

Have you heard this one before? 👇

Bootcamp at the park baby (with @ylanafit)! Sometimes a designer has to make time for health, self care and enjoying summertime! In Montreal we have to make the most of our summers and even though I don't take off for any major periods of time, I do make sure to take in little moments and opportunities whenever I can.⠀
