Here’s to the women born in the ’70s… 💃

We survived the big hair and questionable fashion of the ’80s.

Lived it up in the ’90s, when the music was loud, the nights were long, and the memories were priceless.

Raised families, built lives, and collected a whole lot of memories along the way.

Now we’re in our 50s, but somewhere inside, we’re still those carefree girls dancing to our favourite songs.

We may have a few more wrinkles and a little more wisdom…

But turn on an ’80s classic and just watch us come alive! 🎶

Getting older? Absolutely.

☀️ Taking vitamin D? I sure hope so! Here’s a simple way to get more out of it!

Vitamin D plays an important role in:

🦴 Supporting strong bones and calcium absorption

💪 Maintaining healthy muscle function

🛡️ Supporting your immune system

🌿 Supporting overall health and wellness

But here’s something many people overlook…

Vitamin D is fat-soluble!

That means taking it with a meal containing healthy fats can improve how well your body absorbs it.

Think eggs, avocado, olive oil, nuts, or seeds. 🥑

And no, taking it on an empty stomach doesn’t mean you’re getting zero benefit. You may simply absorb less.

✨ Wellness isn’t just about what you take. It’s about making the most of what you take.

Save this reminder for your supplement routine! 💚

Your future self is watching. 💛

Every meal you eat, every walk you take, every supplement you swallow, every workout you complete, and every night of quality sleep is an investment in your future health.

We often think of aging as something that happens to us. But how we age is influenced by how we live.

✨ Movement helps preserve strength and mobility.
✨ Nourishing foods support your cells and metabolism.
✨ Quality sleep allows your body to recover and repair.
✨ Managing stress supports your physical and mental well-being.
✨ Consistency turns small habits into lasting results.

You don’t need to overhaul your life overnight.

You just need to start making choices today that your future self will thank you for.

Because longevity isn’t just about adding years to your life. It’s about adding LIFE to your years. 🌿

The leaves are falling, the air is getting cooler, and winter is just around the corner. 🍂

And if you know me, you know I’m a summer girl through and through! Give me sunshine, heat, and a beach over snow and skiing any day. ☀️🏖️

But this is where I live, at least for this chapter of my life. And I’ve realized that dreading winter for months doesn’t make it any easier.

So I’m choosing to welcome the changing seasons with open arms, find the beauty in each one, and focus on what I can appreciate rather than what I’m missing.

Because I don’t have to love winter… but I don’t want to spend half my life wishing it away. 🤍

Anyone else a summer girl trying to make peace with winter? 😂 by @ylanafit

Your gut does so much more than digest food. 🌿

Often called your second brain, your gut is in constant communication with your brain, influencing everything from mood and mental well-being to immune function.

✨ Did you know? Around 90% of your body’s serotonin is produced in your gut! That’s just one example of how important your gut is to your overall health.

And here’s something else worth knowing: a significant part of your immune system is located in and around your digestive tract.

So how do you nourish a healthier gut?

🥦 Eat a variety of fibre-rich, whole foods.

🫐 Feed your beneficial gut bacteria with colourful fruits and vegetables.

🥣 Include fermented foods whenever possible.

🚶‍♀️ Move your body regularly.

😴 Prioritize sleep and manage stress.

Good health isn’t just about what you eat. It’s about how you nourish your body from the inside out.

Your gut deserves just as much attention as the rest of you. 💚

What’s in my morning smoothie? I’ll tell you! And every ingredient has a purpose! 💚

💧 Filtered water – Hydration (supports digestion, circulation, and overall cellular function) without any contaminants like chlorine, fluoride, heavy metals or pfas).

🥛 Unsweetened almond milk – A light, low-calorie base that can provide calcium and vitamin E.

💪 Shaklee Organic Protein (24g + leucine) – Builds and preserves lean muscle, supports recovery, and keeps you feeling fuller longer. Leucine is a key amino acid that helps activate muscle protein synthesis. Maintaining muscle is especially important for metabolism and healthy weight management!

✨ Glutamine – An amino acid that supports intestinal cells and immune function, particularly during periods of physical stress.

🫐 Blueberries – Packed with antioxidants, especially anthocyanins, plus fibre and vitamin C to support cellular health.

🍒 Cherries – Rich in antioxidants and polyphenols that help protect cells from oxidative stress.

🌰 Walnuts – Provide omega-3 healthy fats (ALA), fibre, and minerals that support heart health and satiety.

The goal isn’t just to fill your stomach. It’s to nourish your body, protect your muscle, and fuel your day! 🌿

We talk so much about exercise in terms of burning calories, losing weight, or looking good.

But the real magic of movement goes so much deeper.

Building and maintaining muscle is one of the most important investments you can make in your long-term health.

💛 It helps regulate blood sugar.
💛 It supports brain health and cognitive function.
💛 It protects your bones and joints.
💛 It helps you stay strong, mobile, and independent as you age.

And here’s the best part: It’s never too late to start.

You don’t need to spend hours at the gym. You just need to make movement a priority and challenge your muscles consistently.

We’re not just training for the body we want today. We’re training for the life we want 20, 30, and 40 years from now.

Move today. Thank yourself later. 💛

Here’s what I really think about counting calories…

Counting calories can tell you how much energy you’re eating. But it doesn’t necessarily teach you how to eat well.

When we get too focused on staying under a certain number, we can lose sight of what matters just as much: food quality, nutrient density, protein, fiber, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals—and whether our food actually nourishes and satisfies us.

And no, this doesn’t mean calories don’t matter or that eating is a free-for-all. Consistently eating more energy than your body needs can contribute to weight gain.

But here’s what I actually want you to learn—and this is a big part of what I coach:

Learn how to build nourishing meals. Learn appropriate portions. Learn what keeps you full and satisfied. Learn to recognize hunger and fullness. And learn how to make good choices without having to calculate every bite.

Once those skills become second nature, losing weight or maintaining a healthy weight can feel far less complicated and much more sustainable.

Because you’re no longer just trying to stay under a number.

You’ve learned how to eat.

Calories are part of the picture. They’re just not the whole picture. by @ylanafit

I usually pack enough snacks for the day when I know I’m going to be out later in the afternoon… but today I didn’t, and I got hungry.

So I walked over to the closest grocery store and grabbed an organic banana and some spicy pumpkin seeds (super yummy btw 😋)… and honestly, it was perfect to tide me over until I got home.

Instead of automatically reaching for a protein bar, I opted for simple, real foods that gave me potassium, vitamin B6, vitamin C and fiber from the banana, plus protein, healthy fats, magnesium, zinc and iron from the pumpkin seeds.

Nothing complicated. Nothing that required planning ahead. Just two simple foods that gave me energy and actually satisfied me.

A little reminder that eating well doesn’t have to be perfect or elaborate. Even when you’re out, hungry, and didn’t plan ahead, you can still make a choice that nourishes you.

Wherever you are, you can make a better choice. Small choices add up. 💛

Your workout doesn’t have to start at the gym. ☀️🚶‍♀️

Park a little farther. Take the stairs. Walk the extra block.

Small choices add up. And a few minutes of movement is always better than none. 💛

“Regular” cinnamon and Ceylon cinnamon come from different cinnamon species and differ in flavor and coumarin content.

Coumarin is a naturally occurring compound that can potentially harm the liver when consumed in sufficiently high amounts over time. Cassia cinnamon contains substantially more of it, while Ceylon contains very little.

So if you’re just sprinkling cinnamon on food occasionally, regular Cassia cinnamon is generally fine. If you’re consuming cinnamon daily or in larger amounts—for example, putting a teaspoon into oatmeal, smoothies or tea regularly—Ceylon is the better choice for minimizing coumarin exposure.

Pro tip: if it doesn’t specifically say “Ceylon cinnamon” or Cinnamomum verum, then it’s “regular”or Cassia cinnamon.

What is Ceylon cinnamon actually good for?

* Antioxidant activity: It contains polyphenols and other compounds that help counter oxidative stress.
* Blood sugar regulation: Cinnamon may improve insulin sensitivity and fasting blood glucose.
* Anti-inflammatory effects: many compounds in cinnamon have anti-inflammatory activity.
* Heart/metabolic health: Studies suggest cinnamon may have favorable effects on triglycerides, LDL cholesterol, or other metabolic markers.
* Digestive support: Traditionally, cinnamon has been used for digestion and reducing gas/bloating. by @ylanafit
