I've been thinking and reading and writing about gods, the monolithic ones that we know the names of, and how we, maybe in our hubris, anthropize them, in an attempt to understand.
.
There's a common thread shared between all these gods as being able to stand against time, or in other words, to be timeless.
.
But belief and faith are malleable and ductile concepts. When a red thread is spun around a wizened tree in the Indian hinterland, it becomes a portal to a much greater shared consciousness. A smattering of carefully placed shells with a smooth surface in between them becomes an altar in the english countryside.
.
I can't help but see that maybe, the first gods were the ones we made for a loved one. A tree planted so that the next generation has shade. An act of love can be start of a religion as well.
.
Any which way, I've now started to think what happens when the gods sleep.
