Nimeni Tuulikki kantaa vahvaa viittausta tuuleen.

My name, Tuulikki, carries a strong connection to the wind. It feels deeply special to have journeyed across the Bothnian Bay over the past couple of weeks accompanied by the wind—and to have learned atleast once again that the wind truly blows where it pleases.

A magnificent journey that leaves me feeling fulfilled and ready for what’s next.

In the background, you can hear a snippet of my solo from the song "Define" by Yellow Belly—a track that fits this moment perfectly.

The video captures the winds of the breathtakingly beautiful Sandskär.

It took three years to create Oceanine 🤍🐚🪞

Every album begins with a vision, and then the research starts. I love taking notes, reading books and papers, working with colour, printing images, collecting references, and studying them closely. Touching, observing, and connecting ideas is an essential part of my creative process.

These images are from my notebooks, the places where I dream big, collect visions, ideas, keywords, intuitions, and fragments of inspiration. I create a notebook for every album I work on, and over time they become a map of the creative journey behind the music.

One day, it would be beautiful to turn these notebooks into a book. Some pages are deeply personal and will probably remain private, I believe some things are meant to stay a secret. But sharing parts of them feels important, because they offer a glimpse into the artistic process behind creating an album and the world that slowly takes shape before the music exists.

ANI GLASS // CWRW

Don’t miss Ani Glass at CWRW this Friday, with support from Osgled and Yellow Belly!

Tickets are available from DICE - link in bio.

“Music for the end of the world, and the start of a new one” (Pitchfork)

//

Ani Glass released her new album ‘Phantasmagoria’ this month. What a journey to this moment. Fittingly, Ani’s debut LP ‘Mirores’ (“observer”) was based around movement and progress. It was her first foray into the self-taught art of recording and production. Ani Glass has not stopped progressing or moving, since.

Inspired by working with Martin Rushent as a member of indiepop group, The Pipettes, a strong pop sensibility was cemented as a member of the band, Genie Queen (managed by OMD’s Andy McCluskey. Additional inspirations included 1980s artists and producers Giorgio Moroder, Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre and Arthur Russell (who inspired her to learn the cello).

At the start of 2020, just before the release of ‘Mirores’, Ani was diagnosed with a rare benign brain tumour. The diagnosis marked the beginning of the personal journey that has shaped ‘Phantasmagoria’. That final shape is a lush, introspective concept album that delves deeply into her experience of navigating life since then.

Phantasmagoria unites the languages and mediums at Ani’s disposal to express a poignant time in her life, with lyrics in Cymraeg (Welsh), Kernewek (Cornish) and English, as well as some British Sign Language woven into her live performance.

Futuristic, fascinating pop. Ethereal vocals, lush instrumentation and swirling synth pulses echo early Goldfrapp or Enya but this is all Ani Glass, Phantasmagoria is intricate, ethereal, expansive - and newly revealing with every listen.
