Some common misconceptions about yoga : 1. You have to be ‘good’ at it. If you want to learn something new eg; how to speak Spanish - would you think you already had to be good at it before you started?? 2. I’m not flexible enough. Well that’s why you come to yoga. 3. I’m too old. It’s too late to start now. Our oldest student is 87, she started coming to our classes when she was 83. 4. Our classes might be too difficult for me. Five out of our eleven classes a week are suitable for brand new beginners of any age/ability. In fact we LOVE people who’ve never done any yoga before ever. Check out the boards for all our classes and contact us for help finding the right class to start with. Have a look at our website for more information. Love and peace Cori and Pete 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽 #iyengaryoga #yogainhay #hayonwye yogaforall

Friday mornings @wyevalleyyoga 9am to 12 noon… Sutra study followed by an experienced class led by level 3 teacher Cori. In person only and suitable for regular and consistent Iyengar yoga students of two years minimum. A good option for trainees and teachers, we work in more of a workshop type way in this class with lots of repetition and focussed intensity on one or two particular ‘kriyas’ or actions. Today we were working on the upper back and shoulders in these supine backbends on the crown of the head. Join me at the beautiful Salem Chapel on Saturday 5th December for a general level workshop. Contact for more information ☺️ "ACTION IS MOVEMENT WITH INTELLIGENCE. THE WORLD IS FILLED WITH MOVEMENT. WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS IS MORE CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT, MORE ACTION." BKS IYENGAR 💜🙏💜 The use of ropes for yoga was introduced by B.K.S. Iyengar, he writes “Yoga Kurunta is a method in which one learns to manipulate one’s own body in various yoga postures by means of a suspended rope as if one were a puppet” Practising Yogāsanas with the aid of a rope provides many advantages. Difficult āsanas can be held with ease and longer. As practitioners we can move from the known to the unknown where a deeper freedom can be experienced via the body for the mind

What a truly special year it has been for Capoeira Newport 🤍✨ This year was about so much more than simply our classes— it was about people, community, and shared growth. We feel incredibly lucky to have been given so many opportunities to learn, connect, and be inspired by different teachers, disciplines, and ways of moving. Our monthly Fusion class became a space where curiosity and collaboration could thrive, bringing together Capoeira with mindfulness, karate, Wing Chun, Taekwondo, yoga, and even a reptile show — a reminder that learning has no limits when community comes first. We proudly represented our group for the first time at a Batizado in Bristol, celebrated our work with two Gavo Awards (Voluntary Award and Leutement Award), shared our energy at the Summer Big Splash, and had the honour of taking part in the 2025 Wales Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (WEDSA) at the ICC alongside inspiring organisations from across Wales. None of this would be possible without our students, families, teachers, collaborators, and supporters. Every class, every roda, every conversation has shaped this journey. It would take another paragraph to mention each and every one of you who contributed, so we hope that those who did , know who they are and how much we appreciate them. This reel is just a glimpse of what we’ve built together — and how grateful we are to walk this path as a community. 🥁🌍 Axé 💛 #2025 #capoeira #capoeiralove #feelingblessed #feelingthankful

Capoeira fusion 2025 is officially finished && What a year it's been ! From yoga to karate, win chun and more , we have been lucky to have so many opportunities to learn about different movements! We even had a chance to learn about animal movement with a reptile show 🐍🤸‍♂️ We would like to say a special thankyou to everyone who ran a class. Without them these sessions would not be possible and we are so grateful to have had them share their knowledge with us. There have been some truly incredible individuals running these different parts of the fusion classes and honestly we can't believe how lucky we are. Big thankyou to @yogadanielleuk for running this month's yoga class too. She is a brilliant teacher and we would highly recommend going to some of her sessions! 🧘‍♂️ she is also able to adapt movements for people who cant necessarily do ordinary yoga so don't be worried to go along if you think you might not be flexible enough - you can get involved too!! We really hope you all have a fantastic festive season. 🎄♥️🎁 and we hope to see even more of you in the new year !!! Axé !! 🥳💕🤸‍♂️🙌🎶🔥🪘🎵 #capoeira #capoeiralife #capoeiralove #capoeiraangola #capoeirafamily #capoeiramusic #musicislife❤️ #community #communitybuilding #supportlocal #yoga #yogapractice #fitnessmotivation #calisthenicsmovement #mindfulness #meditation
