I got hired at @choloshaleiwa 17 years ago and the rest is history.

Cholos has been there for me through everything.

It’s seen me through pregnancies, marriage, kids, heartaches, accomplishments, death, EVERYTHING.

It’s where we have celebrated every birthday, it’s where we go after every school event.

It is our home away from home.

It’s my safe haven.

Cholos became so much more than just a restaurant.

Cholos is my Village.

It gave me a place to provide for my children and support my family.

It supported me by becoming my commercial kitchen when I took the leap of faith, and got my
cupcake truck.

But most importantly Cholos gave me a family.

For the past 17 years Cholos has been a revolving door for new amazing people to come into my life, that otherwise never would.

I have met every walk of life and every form of human in the walls of Cholos, and I will be forever grateful.

Whether they be permanent staples of my life now or just the quick pass by in the grocery store and a “I haven’t seen you in forever!” They are all important.

They all had their place and their time in my life where I was better because of them.

ALL OF THEM.

To the ones we lost over the years; you are remembered and your stories are still told.

So to all my fellow Cholos over the years; I love you and I hope you are all loving amazing lives.

The best part about Cholos; it’s home base. It’s always there. The doors are always open. You can always come home again.

This Saturday is the 9th Annual 7-Mile Miracle Challenge.
9 years @yogapaul and @kai_h2o started this event as an endeavor and a test for us lifeguards (and fellow watermen) to acknowledge our readiness for the Winter season approaching. Knowing the level of training and physical fitness required to endure an entire winter on the North Shore; this event offers an opportunity for each participant to push themselves in multiple ocean-related disciplines. All the events to be performed are ones that are critical to our job and ability to perform at the highest level when required, as we are constantly tested by conditions on a daily basis. Are YOU ready for Winter??

Course:
Sunset-Ke’iki = 2 mile beach run 🏃‍♂️
Ke’iki-Waimea Bay = 1 mile swim 🏊‍♂️
Waimea Bay-Haleiwa = 4 mile paddle 🏄‍♂️

If you’re up for the challenge (DM me), join us at Sunset Beach for a prompt 0600 “start”. And remember, ‘finishing is winning’ 🙃💪🏽 🌊

Life, family, friends and everything all at once. The couple weeks I spent back home were amazing and needed, but i’m stoked to head back to the mainland to go on this little journey I’m taking. It literally took the help of everyone in my life to unhinge me from my rock, like an opihi that doesn’t wanna get picked. I’m so grateful for everyone in my life, I love you guys more than words can express and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Aloha ❤️⚡️

On September 30, 2023 (last Saturday) 10 of us ocean-enthusiasts came together to challenge ourselves for the 6th annual “7-Mile Miracle Triathlon”.
6 years ago @yogapaul and @northshorelifeguardassociation put together this event, as what we consider a final-test, to begin the Winter surf season. As lifeguards and professionals in the water, we all understand the necessity and importance of constantly TRAINING. We train to prepare for the worst and best possible situations in the water to ensure the safety for others and ourselves. We take great pride in our training and it is often reflected positively when it comes to the dangerous situations we are confronted with.
I was honored this year to be joined not only with several fellow North Shore life-savers, but also some of the worlds top ocean athletes. It was a beautiful morning and I am proud of each of us on our completion and and commitment to doing our best, always. Let’s have a great winter!
5:52am Start 💪🏽
Run: Sunset-Ke’iki 2.2mi 🏃‍♂️
Swim: Ke’iki-Waimea 1.2mi 🏊‍♂️
