@rogueinvitational 2026 🪓 Last minute decision to be fair I don’t have a very large following but I think 95% of them were there this weekend 😂 Coolest thing ever meeting so many people who watch my stuff on here. Appreciate everyone who came to say hi. Bits and bobs with the @continuumchannel channel boys of course Had the pleasure of spending a bit of time with King of the yoinky sploinkers and the well renowned Elite Xenom athlete @coach__gt Listened to @keith.barlow1 chat on his vision for @xenomglobal and where he sees it sitting in the whole fitness ecosphere. The future is bright there I think if it continues to adapt and fill a much needed space Had a wee go (failed miserably) at stones and caught up a bit with @biggilly82 Met loads of the coolest athletes, preached the holy word of CrossFit to the usual suspects and consumed about a million grams of caffeine Generally had a whale of time tbf, glad I ventured up #crossfit #rogueinvitational

Giving, Encouraging, Loving. @spraguerrrr spoke about the qualities he admires in his dad @patspragueallstate , those being the things he wanted to carry into his own life. And being able to find a positive way forward when things don’t go to plan. That’s a part of fatherhood I think about a lot. What will our kids pick up from us? How we treat people. How we handle a rough day. How we make them feel. Really enjoyed this part of our chat with James great way to end the podcast. Shout out @jakechapmancoach for the question.

“You just get it.” I got that message from a client yesterday and it genuinely meant a lot, because for me that’s kind of the whole point of coaching. Anyone can write a programme. Anyone can give you sets and reps, calories, macros, running paces, whatever. That’s the easy bit. The actual coaching is understanding the person you’ve got in front of you. What’s going on in their life, what they can realistically manage, what they enjoy, what they absolutely fucking hate, when they need pushed, when they need pulled back a bit, when they’re overthinking things, or when they’ve had a shit week and just need a bit of perspective rather than another bollocking That’s the bit I care about. Because the best plan in the world is useless if it doesn’t fit the person that actually has to do it, and I think that gets missed sometimes. People aren’t robots. They’ve got jobs, kids, stress, crap sleep, holidays, social stuff, injuries, confidence issues, all sorts going on, so the plan has to be able to move with that. That doesn’t mean there’s no standards or accountability. Far from it. It just means I’m not going to try and force everyone into the exact same approach because that’s easier for me. Two people can have the same goal and need completely different things from me to get there, and that’s what coaching is to me anyway. Figuring that out. So yeah, “you just get it” is a pretty fucking cool compliment. Because I don’t just want people to feel like I’ve given them a programme. I want them to feel like I actually know them, understand them and I’m coaching them properly.

I didn’t actually take that many photos at Coaches Congress this year because, to be honest, I was too busy talking to people, listening, learning and just being part of it. But on Friday night at the welcome mixer, Henrik and Heather surprised me asking me if I’d come onboard officially as the Scottish Ambassador for Coaches Congress. Which is a huge deal I’ve said this a lot recently, but I genuinely believe opportunities come from putting yourself in the rooms. Rooms where there are people far cleverer than you. Rooms where you can ask questions, listen, learn and challenge how you think. Rooms where you can help people without wondering what you’re going to get back from it. I went to Coaches Congress last year simply as a guest. I didn’t go looking for anything. I went because I wanted to learn, meet good people and be around coaches who actually give a shit about getting better at what they do. I came home with more knowledge, new relationships and opportunities I never could have planned for. So I when I was invited back this year. Again, as a guest I had the same intentions And I’ve come home as part of the official team. There’s a lesson in that. You don’t need to walk into every room asking “What can this do for me?” Turn up. Be useful. Help people. Ask questions. Share what you know. Learn from people who know more than you. Build genuine relationships. And don’t be a dick. You never really know where it might lead. Massive thank you to Henrik, Heather and everyone at Coaches Congress for trusting me to represent their values and brand.

We got into SHIT with @johnyoung.crossfit last night on the show 💩 What’s your take on the Joanna Wietrzyk incident at HYROX Beijing this weekend? For Jake and I , it’s crazy that no race director stepped in and removed her from the course. I can’t help but think if that was an everyday athlete rather than one of the best athletes in the world, would they have been allowed to continue? People have been removed for less. There were hundreds of other athletes racing, potentially thousands of people inside the venue, and anyone who’s been to a HYROX knows what those venues are like… Hot. Sweaty. Packed. Everyone sharing the same course and equipment. At that point it stops being just about one athlete wanting to finish their race there’s everyone else’s health and safety to consider too. So where does the responsibility sit? Should HYROX have stepped in and stopped her? Or does the athlete have a responsibility to recognise that continuing could affect everyone else on the course? Interested to hear what people think 👇💩

We’ve stood beside each other at plenty of weddings over the years. But this one was always going to be different. After 30 years of friendship, I finally got to stand beside my best mate @mashinater on his wedding day as his best man. A privilege il never take for granted.
