Shout out to the best fire department in Yonkers. Yonkers fire were barbecuing for the residents of Palisades Towers Yesterday. The residents of Palisade Towers are currently without any gas and are getting their hot water from Mobile boiler trucks located in front of each building. No word on when the repairs will be completed.

Look what our community can do! Yesterday, I issued a call to action -- asking local businesses to help the families at Palisade Towers dealing with an emergency gas shutdown. Our Yonkers Police Department, Yonkers PBA, Yonkers Firefighters Local 628, Office of Emergency Management, Yonkers City Council, Andrea Stewart-Cousins and Stew Leonard's answered the call. Stew's brought in 300 bags of food and we handed out hot plates. This is not easy and we know it's an inconvenience, but I appreciate Yonkers always stepping up to answer the call! #cityofyonkers #mayormikespano #neighborshelpingneighbors❤️ #yonkersstrong

It’s tough to explain how much this step in my life means to me, so I won’t begin to try. Those who know me, know I waited a while for this, stressed over this, and wouldn’t shut up about hopefully one day making it into YFD.
.
.
.
After nearly 4 years of waiting, and another 18 weeks of intense training, the time has come, and I couldn’t be more excited.
.
.
.
I’m entering into something that is bigger than myself, which means my family is expanding, but I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of my immediate family and those closest to me, and most importantly, my mother @shelleysellbuyshell . Heres to a long, healthy, and successful career. 🍻🚒👨‍🚒.
