📚✨ Exciting news, Tongwynlais! ✨📚

We are so excited to be launching Tongwynlais Book Club and we would love for you to join us!

We will be meeting at the wonderful First Light Coffee, where you will find a warm welcome, delicious coffee and tea, and plenty of tasty pastries. ☕🥐 Best of all, it is completely free to attend – we simply ask that you support our lovely hosts by grabbing a drink while you are there.

🗓️ When: The first Sunday of every month at 11:00am
📍 Where: First Light Coffee, Tongwynlais @firstlightcoffeecardiff

Our first meeting is on Sunday 6th September, where we will be discussing The Unbroken Beauty of Rosalind Bone by Alex McCarthy.

Our first read is a beautifully written, atmospheric novel set in a Welsh mining village, where a young woman uncovers long-buried family secrets. Short but powerful, it is packed with themes of memory, community, resilience and the stories we inherit.

Whether you are a lifelong bookworm or simply looking to meet new people in the community, everyone is welcome!

📩 To register for the first session, email tongwynlais.bookclub@outlook.com or send us a DM here on Instagram.

Come for the books, stay for the conversation (and the coffee!). We cannot wait to welcome you!

Hey guys 👋🏽

With a heavy heart, we’ve decided to permanently close our Dalton Yard coffee shop 😔

We loved having the Dalton Yard location as part of the First Light family, but like many small businesses in this current climate, we don’t have the capacity to run both sites to the standard we’d want, so we had to make a tough decision 😢

The great news: the Dalton Yard team will be taking it over and opening their very own event space soon, so keep an eye on their socials! 👀

So they are actively recruiting for bar staff, baristas, event management staff - so if you’re interested, slide into their DMs @daltonyard 😁

We’re going to be fully focusing on our flagship coffee shop in Tongwynlais for now and can’t wait to see you there! 🩷

Huge thanks to Ollie and the team, wishing you massive success with the venue! 🥳

Onwards we go! Big love to you all & thanks for all of the support too!

First Light 🩷☕ xx

Had the pleasure of hosting a talk + Q&A with the incredible Rhys Jenkins @rjenko11 🙌
✨️
As an athlete, Rhys has taken on some seriously legendary challenges from Badwater 135 through Death Valley, to running the entire Wales Coast Path, tackling the brutal Kodiak 100 in the US, and enduring the relentless Wildhorse 200 on home turf in Wales.
✨️
It hasn’t been an easy journey either… after double hip surgery, he’s now proudly calling himself a “Total hippie” 😄
✨️
So what’s next? The Speed Project LA to LV 2026 👀🔥 with the team @tanyllwch. Follow along for the ride!
✨️
Wishing you the very best of luck. I know you’re going to have an amazing time. So proud of you and grateful to call you my friend ❤️
✨️
Thank you, Rhys, for sharing your story and thank you, @mattignition, for the opportunity!
