A moment for August cause she knew what she was doing 🌀🌸🌟

•adding a bit of whimsy to my trail runs with wildflowers in my vest 🌸
•explored a new national park! snuck riley in the trunk to avoid the absurd $100 USD per person fee just to get to the trailhead to find out there was no fee.. makes for a good story.
•backcountry camped at a new spot and “slept” with one eye open cause I was convinced something was gonna take @charnelleoutside and I in our sleep (might be a sign I’ve been reading too many thrillers)
•I said yes to the dress!!!!!! 💛

summer favourites 🦋🌞🫶🏼

honestly, yesterday I was feeling some type of way that we only went camping and hiking literally one time this summer but then I reflected on the last couple months: I had loads of quality time with the girls, took two trips to mexico to see my favourite person, watched friends that I love dearly tie the knot, caught some beautiful sunsets, played in the water, and then got to wrap up August with @noahkahanmusic

all this to say, it’s okay if you didn’t hit every hike on your list or fill every weekend of summer with all the “usual” things - sometimes experiencing a season differently can be just as magical!!

Sometimes family is far away. Sometimes you don’t have much family to begin with. Sometimes the people you thought would be there just aren’t. Sometimes they suck.

And then you find friends who show up.

Friends who love your kid, make them laugh, let them be part of the adventure, and make a backpacking trip feel a whole lot more magical. These two made this trip so fun for my girl. They brought the snacks, the potions, the silliness, the patience, and the love.

I think that’s one of the best parts of growing up. Realizing you don’t have to have the perfect village handed to you. You can build one.

You can find the people who become family. The aunties who aren’t actually aunties… the friends your kid gets stoked to see. The people who show up because they genuinely want to be there.

And I’m just really grateful these are some of the women my daughter gets to grow up with. 🤍

A few really good days of camping, playing in the water and enjoying the sun with my favourite people 🫶🏼🌀✨

I picked up a new camera on marketplace right before this trip, and I’m so happy with how the first roll turned out - very stoked to shoot with it more this summer and try some different film stocks!!
