Honeymoon Part 2: Hiking (part of) the Alta via 1 in the Dolomites ➡️

I’ve wanted to hike a hut to hut trail for years, the idea of the hut system interested me so much, a warm bed, hot food for dinner, and showers?? Far superior to backpacking your own shelter and food on your back 🏕️

Day 1: Lago di Brais ➡️ Rifugio Biella

Lago di Brais is essentially the Italian version of Lake Louise. This was possibly one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done (and not because it was a partially difficult hike) 🥾.

I got sick with laryngitis two days prior to starting the hike, I had to stop every 20 steps to cough up a lung, catch my breath, or blow my nose. I had timers set for when I was allowed another lozenge or cold meds.

At one point when 1km took us 1h 45 min and I thought I was seeing god, I relented and let Josh take my pack for the final km (tough on the ego 😅)

Day 2: Rifugio Biella ➡️ Fodara Vedla

I woke up feeling like I regressed health wise, so we had a slow start to the day which mostly consisted of me staring out at the mountains contemplating life. Luckily it was a short one to our next hut.

As we made our way we could start to hear bells, once we reached the top of the hill we saw a whole valley of cows, all their bells sounded like wind chimes (see next video). This was the turning point for me, we even saw baby highland cows!!

We got to our next hut which was more like a 5 star hotel ⭐️. We sat down on the patio and minutes later heard the cow bells in the distance, soon enough a whole herd came around the corner as the shepherds were leading them down the mountain for winter (a celebration here)

Day 3: R&R at Fodara Vedla

Initially two nights at Fodara Vedla was a backup plan while we waited for a cancellation elsewhere but it ended up being exactly what I needed to heal myself from the inside out. We played crib, ate the most amazing food (some of the best of our entire trip), ate apple strudel with home made ice cream, painted, and napped the day away 💭

Day 4: Fodara Vedla ➡️ Col Gallina

This was meant to be our biggest day with 23km and taken in Dolomite Italian Alps by @yourfriendvic

Bye bye Bologna 👋🏼🇮🇹

Just like that part 1 of our honeymoon is over. We drank good, ate good, and saw lots of sights. I could get used to playing tourist 🙈

My favourite meal: pumpkin stuffed tortelloni with a cream sauce

The one where we moved 🏡

Life has been a whirlwind lately (in a mostly good way). After living in the NW of Calgary for the last decade, our recent move has us experiencing what the SW has to offer. TBD on which is better, but so far I’m loving our new neighbourhood!

Big shoutout to our friends and fam for the huge assist with the move. We couldn’t have done it without you ♥️♥️♥️

Oh sip! It’s a girls trip!! (IYKYK) 🤪🥂

Nothing makes me feel like I’ve peaked in life quite like a trip with my gals 💫🫶🏼

Slow mornings on the Okanagan ft camp LATTES (you heard me right) courtesy of @morgsyont ☕️

Easily put in six hour shifts on the floatilla each day. Treated it like our day job. Ft Cheetah, Justin Beav, and Shelly 🐚🦫🐆

Finally made it to @fieldhousebrewing in Abbotsford on our drive back to Van. While we were there absolutely cooking in the sun we decided to take a quick detour ➡️

Spent an hour practising dives and playing mermaids at Cultus Lake 🧜‍♀️ Sadly, I forgot my goggles in the car

Camping with girls is ultimate whimsy. We had not one, but two table cloths, home grown flowers, and a candle 🕯️🌅

Last minute day trip to Bowen island for another shift in the sun 🌞

St Mark’s summit birthday eve sunset hike. Brought up a cheesecake and sang happy birthday with a group of strangers 🍰

Not featured is going to Claire’s to get Alyssa’s ears pierced (second and third hole)👂🏼
