Doc Da Mindbenda is a critical piece to not only Chicago Hip-Hop but underground Hip-Hop. I know and have seen the kind of work Doc puts in, so when I saw he had this album Bet The House dropping, I knew what time it was. And as Doc Da Mindbenda rolled out this album with singles, the hype grew. And then Doc delivered on that hype just like I knew he would!

Bet The House is an album whose theme circles around gambling and the high ups and low downs that it brings. Doc Da Mindbenda is a producer, meaning this album is packed full of incredible features coming together for Bet The House. I mean Doc put together damn near a super group of high caliber names here. Artists and talent that radiates Chicago, but spans outside of the city as well. The first song is House Money with IAMGAWD & Vic Spencer, one of the singles that dropped before the album and a certified banger. But honestly everything on Bet The House is a banger, it’s crazy. Speaking of singles of course Foyr Of a Kind with Rufus Sims & Tru Foe is another incredible track and these two songs had me locked in for this release.

The different combinations of artists here is really dope and some of which I wouldn’t have thought to put together necessarily. Like Jontay Porter with Ju Jilla & Asun Eastwood, halftime Analysis with Jamal Gasol, Panamera P & Sure Shot or the two tracks with Daniel Son & A.M. Early Morning, Courtside Seats also featuring Heavy Crownz & Lake Shore Summer with Jae Haze & Defcee. IAMGAWD, Waterr & UFO Fev each got solo songs here all of which were great. Bet The House ends with 2 stacked tracks, Profit Boosts with Vic Spencer, Ju Jilla and Rufus Sims, followed by House Always Wins with IAMGAWD, Philmore Green & Backwoods Jones. Wrapping everything up all Chicago.

Picking artists and features matters! And Doc Da Mindbenda only picked the absolute best for his album. Not only that but Docs production is incredible, every beat brought what was needed and held its own with wave after wave of the underground’s best. Bet The House is a MUST listen album!

The love I experienced through you was the purest love I have ever known. And while I’ll always wish I could’ve experienced that love for longer, I’m so grateful I got to experience it at all.

So I’ll keep saying your name. I’ll keep telling your story. I’ll keep putting your name in rooms you never got the chance to walk into and honestly, rooms I never imagined I’d be in either.

Everything I do in your name is my way of making sure your life continues to matter beyond the time you were physically here.

August 10 💙 A Day of Reflection.

Years ago, @dessomajor and @yp27 experienced the unimaginable—the loss of their son, Kaiden. In this never-before-seen sit-down with @dessomajor and @yp27 , I witnessed what is possible when two people who have suffered an unimaginable loss allow time, love, healing, and God to continue writing the story.

Not every story ends the way it began. Sometimes healing looks like arriving at a place where you can sit across from one another, honor what you shared, appreciate who the other person has become, and smile again.

It literally melts my heart to have witnessed these two smile—to hear them reflect, to see the grace between them, and to experience Kaiden’s presence so supernaturally throughout this experience.

Some love doesn’t disappear. It changes form. And some people will forever be connected by a life, a love, and a story that mattered.

God bless you both. And rest in heavenly peace, Kaiden. 💙
