This Friday, come join us as we engage in critical and crucial conversations around stigmas, stereotypes, and acts of marginalization that continue to alienate Black people from mental health supports and conversations! Through acts of colonialism and white systems of power, several Black communities and Black Individuals suffer from intergenerational trauma that often goes untreated or unnoticed due to colonial mental health institutions.

Consequently, the lack of Black mental health professionals, and the history of Black mental health caricatures in various health books and research, it has been extremely hard for Black people to get representational mental health aid. Recognising these barriers, we aim to have positive solutions to break these mental health stigmas and problematic narratives to allow for more safe and comfortable spaces for Black people to speak on their mental health struggles.

If you have any questions or accessibility requests, please email vpequity@yfs.ca. If you would like to access wellness and mental health related resources, please visit @yfswellness . Black History Month event on Uncovering and Defying Mental Health Stigmas

Working with content creators to present culture has always been our mission and purpose - earlier this year we executive produced a video project to capture the vision for a group of talented BIPOC creatives. This featurette goes behind the scenes of the latest video release by Toronto Hip Hop veteran and acclaimed producer Solitair (BlackJays) as we meet the cast and crew behind the curation of his narrative wedding sequence music video ‘We’re In Love’ directed by Noorez ‘Nunu’ Rhemtulla and produced with the support of VX3 Exchange (operator of VIBE105). #TorontoHipHop #BlackCreatives #BTS #shortfilm

Are you a part of the Black Gen Z dating scene?👀 Then this event is for you🫵🏾!

BSA Carleton is partnering with various Black cultural clubs from different Ontario universities to host its first ever virtual speed dating event!! This is a great opportunity to make new friends, network and maybe even find love😉; Valentine’s Day is just around the corner after all!
The event will take place over Zoom on February 11th, those who fill out the form in our bio will receive the link closer to the date.

There will be 2 parts, the first being the regular speed dating segment and the second a game of “The Button” based off the speed dating game by Cut on YT.
