Think fiery wrath, unapologetic gluttony + enough food temptation to make your self-control a distant memory.   ✨ @meantimebrewing are giving you plenty of reasons to stay for one more with REDEMPTION HOUR. Every evening from 7-8pm, with £5 pints of Meantime Lager + free pints up for grabs too.    And we haven’t stopped at food + drink.    We’ve got surprise performers, from contortionists to escapologists, live bands + more across two weekends.    AND...   The markets been dressed in Halloween best. 15,000+ ice creams. 45 pop-ups. 21 weeks. 18 swirlers. What a season! 🎉 From swirling for an @uggineurope event with @zaralarsson to 3,000 ice creams for @easterncityldn across iconic locations in the City during a heatwave, to partnerships with @anthropologieeu and @eurostar to collabs with the likes of @rhythm108 and @freesoul and @sephorauk to calling @canopy_market home for most of it… We’ve been all over London and had the most insane summer yet. Behind every smile and swirl, were tears, freezers overheating, lessons, supplier delays, grit pushing carts up steep hills, an over-flowing inbox and questioning why I agreed to another season… But, seeing smiles from the little kids seeing it be made or the edible glitter on their ice cream or the joy from Kiwis enjoying a taste from home — made it worth it. 🥰 I have too many people to thank — from our wonderful suppliers, landlords, and supportive social community, to our loyal customers, and hardworking swirlers. Are these the best bao in London? 🍑🌱 Seven dials market stand Yum Bun and also a stand in spitalfields market does vegan bao buns (bun buns but using for search :)) and sides like gyoza 🥟 Idk if the answer is yes as I haven’t avidly ventured through the London bao scene but this is deffo some of the yummiest tofu I’ve had and the buns themselves were SO fluffy ☁️ and soft. 🌱 Their vegan buns (£6 each or 2 for £11.50) include the 1) tofu bun and 2) the aubergine bun. My sister who isn’t the biggest aubergine fan even liked the aubergine! Tofu stole my heart though. PERFECT amount of tofu. 🌱They have a lunch box: (Mon-fri until 4pm) 2 buns, 2 crispy veg gyoza + pickled ‘slaw (£13.5) And 🌱a Salad Set: 2 bun fillings (no bun), 3 crispy veg gyoza, large pickled’ slaw (£13.5) 🌱 Also had the bright purple lychee and hibiscus tea 💜 (When I refer to the distribution of the filling I’m mostly meaning the sauce was mostly sat on the top, but zero complaints on a mouthful of bun cause it’s 10/10 fluffiness). Deffo a perfect dinner or lunch in seven dials. As lovers of street food, when we are in London, our two must-visit destinations are always Spitalfields and @sevendialsmkt and this week was no exception, especially given Jeni’s recent surgery. Our London map was filled with amazing food and drink options, but street food was an ideal option while we got a handle on what she could eat. We timed our visit to Seven Dials perfectly, with the vendors not long open and plenty of tables free. Special mentions go to @yum_bun which were one of Jeni’s nostalgic highlights, @masa.ldn for delicious tacos, and @bleekerburger which did an awesome smash burger for Felix I can’t not mention @badboypizzasoc for obvious reasons. Pudding-wise, we all ended up trying the tiramisu from @chinchinicecream , and @mellodeluxe which was both lovely, and a great experience thanks to the awesome (Scottish) staff. One of the reasons for my love of Seven Dials is that it was an inspiration for the @highlandfoodanddrinktrail . Not only is it a celebration of some of the best of new street food, but it is also an explicit mechanism to nurture and grow exciting new food businesses, give them a city centre platform where they can get their names known, grow and refine their offering, and one day move on to bigger and better things. I hope that one day, the HFDT list of success stories will be even half as impressive as Seven Dials.
