Light Yagami had to keep up appearances at @otakusekai.ma’s Cosplay Prom last week, but he ended up drawing more attention to himself than expected— I won 2nd place in my first-ever cosplay contest! ✌🏻🎉

I was super stoked to get to support @rinn.tuu at her first event with @yumeicafe. Naturally, she was adorable and perfect and wonderful beyond what words can express, but she did have tough competition! @noraa.aathe_cat really stole the show by the end of the night. She was the perfect Ryuk to my Light! 🥰🍎🐈‍⬛

It was great to meet other cosplayers and chat with everyone! These smaller cosplay events always make for amazing opportunities to make friends, especially compared to the larger con scene I usually find myself in.

Big shoutout to @sostephpics for capturing the whole event! All the cosplay photos came out sick, and the manga panel edit was wicked clever! 📸

(っ˘ڡ˘ς) JUDGE AWARD ‘PERFORMANCE’ at @otakusekai.ma 3rd Anniversary Event: Lunar New Year of the Snake 🐍
..
🧧 WINNERS: Tanjiro (tag?), Len @ndiaz.cos, Adventurine @jng.cos - congrats to all!
..
🪈 CONTEST: Instead of a traditional performance, I decided to mix things up with an interactive anime OP trivia! I performed 3 clips of popular anime openings on my Chinese flute, and the audience had to guess the songs. Those who got it right won red pocket money along with customized goodies and cards. It was such an honor to debut my Zhongli cosplay and take home the Judge Award in the cosplay contest!
..
📸 NEW TEMPLATE: With Instagram’s recent update, posts now appear taller, so I’ve adjusted to fit the new format. As some of you may know, I’m part of the @cosprom_newengland social media committee and also work with the engagement committee at the cancer genomics company I’m with. I’ve been getting into making portrait style collage, and I hope you like this new style! (there will prob be 1 more post after this!)
..
🎊 THANK YOU: A big thanks to otaku sekai for creating such an inclusive space for cosplayers and all attendees to come together and celebrate the 3rd anniversary and Lunar New Year!
