Day 3 took me somewhere I never expected — standing at the DMZ, learning what actually separates two nations was heavier than I imagined.
From there, straight into Gwangjang Market for all the food I could find, then an evening walk along the canal to just take it all in. Educational, humbling, and honestly one of the most eye-opening days of the trip so far.

Seoul Korea was filled with food, activity and culture I didn’t expect. We all hear about their famous skincare and wellness practices, but the history, culture, food, shopping and activities filled our days leaving me wanting to come back for more. It was a great family vacation with my parents and nephews. A trip that can accommodate all ages. A trip to the DMZ zone was fascinating. A sunset boat cruise; dressing up in traditional Hanbok was quite the experience especially on a rainy day. Cooking class and strolling various local areas and street each with their own personality. And the perfect stop before our next journey to Mongolia. A 10 out of 10 in my book! #thepreferredlife #believeintravel #seoul #luxurytravel

#NorthKorea - the world's most isolated country.

Today, we stood just hundreds of meters from North Korea, inside the heavily guarded but nevertheless rather touristic Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), a surreal, sobering and highly educational experience.

No pictures allowed anymore from the Dora Observatory since a US soldier defected a few years ago, so the pictures are from our lovely guide @yuna.tourguide

We also descended into the infamous 3rd Tunnel, one of several secret underground passages dug by the North in a plan to invade the South. Even today, there's no formal border, just a tense stand-off between two nations technically still at war.Fun fact: South Korean soldiers stationed at the demarcation outposts are chosen not just for their skill, but for their height and looks - the flex!

It’s hard to describe the emotion - awe, sadness, and a reflection on how tragically and comically absurd totalitarianism is. So many lives wasted, so much potential lost on the other side of the line, a country desperately hoping to become one again.

For all its flaws, capitalism allows something precious: freedom. The freedom to think, speak, build, dream and travel like our family is doing right now. They appreciate it on this side of the border. #NorthKorea #DMZ

Did you know there’s a starbucks where you can sip coffee while looking at North Korea?🌏 At Aegibong, the closest Starbucks to North Korea, you can! You can even take photos—yes, even through binoculars! Spot buildings, people, and maybe even the flag 🇰🇵 if the weather’s clear. Pretty unreal, right? ☕️📸 Just message me if you want to join our VIP Travel tour for this one-of-a-kind experience! 😊 @viptravel_choi
