Let me tell you what’s happening in South Korea right now.

South Korea is a democracy, and one of the most fundamental rights in any democracy is the right to vote. 🇰🇷 However, during the 9th Local Elections on June 3, 2026, this fundamental right—guaranteed by our Constitution—was called into question by serious administrative problems.

Here is what happened:

1️⃣ Ballot Shortages: In over 50 districts across the country, polling stations reportedly ran out of ballots. Despite waiting in line, some voters were unable to receive a ballot before voting ended.

2️⃣ Chaotic Transitions: At several polling stations, including in Jamsil, citizens tried to stop the transport of ballot boxes, arguing that the election process had not been properly completed because some voters were unable to cast their ballots. Despite these objections, the ballot boxes were transported to counting centers and the votes were counted.

3️⃣ Calls for a Re-election: Citizens have gathered near the Olympic Park Handball Stadium, calling for a re-election. The National Election Commission has acknowledged the problems and expressed regret, but maintains that a re-election is not possible under the current legal framework.

This is not about supporting any particular political party. It is about a simple question: what should happen when eligible citizens are unable to exercise their right to vote through no fault of their own?

Regardless of political views, most people would agree that every citizen should have a fair opportunity to vote.

If you’ve joined my DMZ tour,
you might remember the Statue of Peace — a symbol of the women who were forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during WWII.

In February, we lost Gil Won-ok,
and just yesterday, Lee Ok-seon, one of the most outspoken survivors, passed away at the age of 97.🕯️🕊️

Only six registered survivors now remain in South Korea.

That statue isn’t just a memorial —
it’s a reminder of the stories we must carry forward.

Happy Mother’s Day! 💐
Here in Korea, we celebrate Parents’ Day on May 8th—a day to honor both moms and dads together with carnations, handwritten letters, and sometimes even little school ceremonies. ✍️🌺
I missed posting on the 8th, but hey—better late than never, right? 😉

Today, as many countries celebrate Mother’s Day, I just want to send warm wishes to all the amazing moms around the world. 🌍💖
As a tour guide, I especially love meeting travelers who journey with their moms. Those trips always feel extra special. ✈️👩‍👧

I grew up in a humble home. We didn’t have much, but my parents always gave their best for us. 🏡
They taught me how to care for others—and maybe that’s what led me to become a guide who looks after travelers from all over the world. 🧭

So today, I’m holding them close in my heart.
