Point Break

I titled this piece after the 1991 movie “Point Break” because of the last line in the poem.

This piece speaks on when a person has had enough and is at their breaking point. That person was me…
but I’m still here.

It coincides with the last scene of the movie when Bodhi surfed off into a wave that he knew he wouldn’t come back from.

Despite most of my poems being about love, self knowledge and growth, this poem speaks on the pain that was felt through decisions that I made.

The thing we must remember though is that in our darkest moments we find our light.

Point Break was my breaking point but it helped me to mold this thing we call being alive into “My Life”.

Thank you @breaknrecordsentertainment @allaboutdg for putting this amazing event together.
Check them out every Thursday at @sipcityliquorandlounge

Thank you to my love and fiancé for the great video. She is her. Through the ups and downs our lights get brighter 💞♾️💫🐈😻

Thank you to @sipcityliquorandlounge for having us and I can’t wait to be back. Check out this amazing space when you get a chance. Great vibes, great service and great drinks. Don’t forget about the beer wall behind me in the video. Incredible concept.

Lastly, thank you to the love, the pain and the situations that made me Me. Still learning, still growing and still flowing. Let’s go!!!

Divinity, souls gifted energy.
A portion of creation and creator put the gift in me.
Lifting me, past what was placed here to hinder me. Biblically, written in the Bible was my imagery.
Not the painted picture but depiction of infinity.

Stay away from people that only care about money 💰🚫. There is no judgement towards anyone. However, that mentality is harmful and only contributes to the selfishness, greed, and lack of empathy and concern that people have today for one another. Money is not all that should be valued. There is no satisfying a greedy appetite, even money cannot cure all of our issues. It’s a tool only. Placing money above the value of a human life is part of how society got to where it is now. Defining someone’s love for you by how much money they can give you is part of how we arrived to the individualist mentality that society now has. It’s dangerous and a threat to our growth. Pray that God changes the hearts of those that think this way.

On August 8th, 2022, there was a major turning point for me in my life. It was the first time that I allowed what was inside of me to be heard by those around me. This message was to people in my environment, enduring the same circumstances that I was enduring, who were struggling and experiencing hatred, oppression, harassment, belittlement, disrespect, discrimination, and racism.

What began as honest expression became a speech. The journey after this has been amazing, to say the least, and I have outgrown the lifestyle and mentality that I was stuck in for so long.

At Saturday’s Open Mic, “Words Hit Different Here,” I spoke this speech. As you listen to a portion of the speech, please try to envision who I was speaking to.

This was the day in our environment when Christians and Muslims began to be kind to each other and respect each other as human beings first. This made us stronger than we’ve ever been.

Please hear this speech. It is the first speech I ever wrote. 🤲🏾

On September 19th, 2026, Pivotal Point Empowering Project was graced by Robert Wood Johnson 🏥 to hold a Domestic Violence Information Session. This information was extremely valuable and could only be held by expert professionals such as Elaine Hewins, and Andrea. Healthy, Unhealthy and Abuse Relationships are so important and should always be analyzed. Thank you very much for coming. We will be having another session again very soon!

Words hit different here 🥊🎤. Last night, many artists used their gifts to express themselves and impact lives in the process 🎙️. Through poetry, through music, through comedy, through lyrics, through words, lessons were learned and a message was spoken. It was a great success and we are looking forward to many more. Major salute to all those who came to support and all of the artists who expressed themselves through their gifts. Major salute and thanks to @theghoodlife_1025_poet for putting this event together. Much respect 🫡💪🏾🥊.
