The red hot plates are spinning as we gear up for October’s music, 12” records, and then some. Trust that we’ve got some seasoned and new servings this month, so come on in with keen ears. We kick off with Philson’s @whatstheplanphil return to his crates, while Kalen @555dgtl and Haziq @_hzqq_ promise new sounds to the living room thereafter. We’ve got Choo @chinnian and Bryan @bryanjedidiah sharing records for a first, whilst returning champs Ryan @_the.weatherman and Leland @lelnd continue on, showing off their finds. Zai @z4idj and John T @sideo return to bring us surprises, naturally, — and finally, we welcome Vietnam via US’ Jimmy Gia Huy @huydonist for a special Sunday nightcap to round off the week.

004 - cut from the same gold. When it came to choosing the spots for outings, whatever the opposite of a hidden gem was, that was what I always avoided. The crowds, the superficial vibe that a lot of these places have, overall the least authentic places most of the time. Nonetheless, I still wandered around the area, playing I spy with my little eye with my camera. And then I landed in funan for aircon expecting the same old same old. But the closer I got, the more apparent that something was happening. The melodic chops with layered instrumental that were blessing my ears, the warm orangie colours of the booths, the people around the area captivated by something or someone. I came around the corner and saw @z4idj jamming that lofi hip hop shit out with a passion. I continued walking with my neck turned as if I had autofocus on and immediately when I sat down, the vibrant mess moving mesmerisingly made it seem like this guy was oozing ultra instinct aura (DBS reference), bopping his head erratically, swaying his body like an autonomous mall door, it was clear he was deep in the flow state. I couldn’t help but go right up to his personal workshop, whilst bopping my head and doing a stank face… I thought, “I found my people” Nujabes, Marcus D, J Dilla and many more from the underground scene producing from the heart, many of whom haven’t gotten their flowers. They anchor and continue the art of lofi hip-hop. And trust me, finding one that enjoys this typa music is already rare but finding one that produces this sparks a different typa joy and excitement in me, so much so that I stood there right by him waiting for him to finish cooking to get his IG so that I could get a larger bite of his work.. — FUJIFILM X-T30 II XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS FILM SIMULATION: VELVIA/VIVID ISO 1600 • 47mm • f/4 • 1/180 • 0 EV 5 SEP 2026 • 20:47 Bro is oozing aura 😮‍💨 — FUJIFILM X-T30 II XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS FILM SIMULATION: VELVIA/VIVID ISO 1600 • 54mm • f/4 • 1/180 • 0 EV I knew I had to catch a red ominous shot, this was my take ☺️ — FUJIFILM X-T30 II XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 R LM OIS FILM SIMULATION: VELVIA/VIVID ISO 3200 • 83 • f/4 • 1/180 • 0 EV Got

WHATS HAPPENING THIS WEEKEND? 🗝️ Friday, 28 Aug >>> The second wave is here. Summer Sixteen lands back at RASA! If you were in the room for their 10th anniversary, you know exactly what kind of energy to expect. We are running it back to 2016: when Drake, Kanye, and Travis Scott were shifting the culture weekly: and tracking the evolution of hip-hop straight through to today's heavy hitters. Catch @prav.wavy, @deejayxg, @feosho, and @asaspadez controlling the Floor. Pure anthems, all night long. Saturday, 29 Aug >>> We are closing out the month with two completely different frequencies across both rooms. On the Floor, Ginette Chittick (@ginettechittick) returns with DAYDREAM NATION. Swap your regular dancing shoes for something you can jump in. Expect a full-on sonic assault of 90s and noughties indie rock, Britpop, and untamed punk. Kim (@k.i.m.wong) sets the early tension with a deep dive into alt-rock before the room descends into pure, sweaty, guitar-driven nostalgia. Over in the Hall, we introduce SOUL POWERED: a proper block party brought indoors. Channeling the raw spirit of Funk, Soul, Disco, and Classic Hip-Hop, we have four groove masters (@shane2sweet, @limshbrandon, @z4idj, @raphaellimm, @tengyboy) on the decks. MC @j0jonasty holds down the mic alongside live acts @opusrenegade and @slickbobby, while the @watchagot.sg crew pulls the dancefloor straight into the cypher. Come laced and loud: there are prizes for the flyest dressed in the room. Tickets and RSVPs via the link in our bio. Let's make it a massive weekend. 🫂
