Battle of the Christmas portraits! 2021 vs 2020! Which one do you like better??

We had to take self portraits for my photography course so of course I had to to break out the red lipstick!! I have been battling a lot of sadness lately so I had to pretend I was taking a picture for Oprah magazine in order to get this smile 😂 Not gonna lie yall it was cold as heck but taking pictures is so much fun for me I had to thug it out.

Question for you guys...how long do you keep your braids and twist in?? I have had these twist in my hair for over a month now. When I was paying someone else to do my hair I would try to keep my hair in as long as possible to "get my money's worth". Now that I do my own hair...I still find myself wanting keep the style as long as possible so I don't have to do the work all over again 😂

If you haven't heard... I GRADUATED! Let me tell you why this graduation means so much to me. I struggled with mental health issues for the duration of my teenage years. My academics suffered horribly as a result. My lowest recorded GPA was a 1.17. I hated school so much, and there wasn't a subject I didn't fail lol. So many of my teachers and adults in my life told me that "school just wasn't for me." What they didn't realize is that outside of school, I was dealing with so many grown-up things that weighed on me. I took all the strength I had to deal with my daily life, and I didn't have the mental space for schoolwork. I started at CSM when I was 18 years old, while most of my friends went off to universities. Some of them were nice enough to ask me how I was doing in "clown college." It hurt, but I kept going. I took one class at a time some semesters, and I had to lay out some semesters to save up for the next. You see, I didn't qualify for financial aid. My classes were paid for 100% out of pocket. I had other things to pay for. I just couldn't add student debt to my list. Looking back, I was sooooo blessed to be able to do so!!! Last year, I signed up for classes, and they told me... you don't have to pay anything, and your financial aid covered it." I never cried so much in my life. Fast forward to this spring... two days before my birthday, I finished my final semester with a 4.0 GPA. I cried tears of joy as I lined up to walk across that stage. God has blessed me so much along this journey in a way that I could never communicate with words. I have grown so much as a person, and I have also been set free from my anxiety and depression. My 18 year old self would be in complete disbelief...her life is so different now. 🎓👩🏽‍🎓🙏🏽❤ #classof2021 #godisgoodevenwhenlifeishard

I have had these pink braids in since before Valentines Day and I think the color is soooo fun and pretty. I'm not gonna lie - I thought they'd look childish on me...but I keep forgetting I'm not 14 so I don't mind looking younger for a bit lol. I'm trying to push it another week but @its_jennj 's braid take down really has me wanting to take these out tonight haha 😄 What do you guys think should I do these again or try another style?

Wanna know a secret? I've never worn a bun in my life 😅 with 4C (4G😂) hair "throwing it in a bun" can be a challenge in itself which is why I never wear one! Since my hair is technically still straighten here I was able to do these and I think this style is super cute! I work retail and we wore all black for black Friday so I wanted to do something fun!

Its officially head wrap weather! I know a million different ways to tie them but I always end up going for the low bun style for some reason. I usually use a cotton scarf like this one I got from @target and wear my bonnet or jersey wig cap underneath it. For some reason I have so much trouble picking out a color/print that I like!! Do you guys wear head wraps? Do you know of any sites where I can get some good ones?

If minding my business was a whole person...😂 This was inspired by @kutovakika beautiful self portraits. This this definitely giving me #fallvibes even though if you know me personally you'd know fall is actually my least favorite season. This shot was surprisingly difficult to get, I kept dropping the book or the remote (hidden in my right palm) or both 🤔🤭😂
