POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Today, I took the art to the streets. 🎨

Wembley became my gallery for the day.

Instead of wondering what people might think when they see my work, I wanted to hear it for myself. So I stood in the middle of Wembley and invited members of the public to stop, look, and tell me honestly what they saw, felt and thought.

No rehearsed opinions.
No gallery walls.
No art-world language.

Just people encountering the work in real time.

These two paintings art part of “The Hood” collection. Fatherhood and childhood. I’m always fascinated by what someone else sees when they stand in front of them.

And today, Wembley had something to say. ❤️🎨

Real art. Real people. Real reactions.

💬‘I’m grateful to be taking part in Herne Hill Art Fair. As an Angolan-British artist, my work explores identity, emotional complexity, and the inner worlds we carry. Through figurative painting, I’m interested in presence, tension, and the quiet strength held within the body.’

Zerbabels work is not to be missed. Come see it for yourself at Station Hall✨

Last night was about Black brilliance in full bloom.

Despite the gaps in organisation and the confusion on arrival, the artists showed up, held each other, filled the space, and let the art speak loud.

The DJ set the tone, the artists set the soul, , the walls carried our stories, and the room became a living, breathing celebration of resilience and talent.

So grateful to have shared space with such powerful creatives.

Here’s to us 🥂

ARTIST FOCUS: Zerbabel Caumba

@zee_the_artist 🎨

An oil painter who through intimate portraits and interior scenes reveals the emotional landscapes Black women are rarely given space to express: softness, doubt, stillness, longing, and becoming. The private pause before reinvention, the quiet exhaustion before resilience, the tenderness shown when no one is watching, the questions silently carried.

Not performance. Not stereotype. Just truth.

Zerbabel's practice focuses on using oil to slowly build depth - "layering paint like we layer stories. Shadows represent what we've learned to hide. Light reveals who we are beneath expectation."

She's on a mission to create images where Black women are complex, layered, vulnerable, powerful, and human - all at once. To give visual language to healing, self-discovery, the soft power of rest, the quiet ache of growth. To restore visibility to our inner worlds - the truth carried within what defines the Black woman most deeply.

Painting the Unseen, Revealing the whole woman.
