It was so brilliant to see such a good turn out for the first Bristol Baithaks event in the North Somerset village of Pill. South Asian Classical traditions tend to be platformed in Bristol and tend not to reach communities in North Somerset. A key part of this project, which would not be possible without @aceagrams National Lottery project grant funding and incredible ongoing support from @zeroclassikal, was to bring knowledge and practices of the Hindustani instrumental music tradition to places on the outskirts of Bristol, like the beautiful and community-rich village of Pill.

Performers: @peteyelding sitar and @the_tablaist on tabla.

In a change to previous programming, owing to an injury, next week’s concert will now feature tabla player, @the_tablaist Janan Sathiendran — a specialist in both Hindustani and Carnatic music accompaniment. He joins @peteyelding for an intimate summertime evening concert of ragas in the beautiful North Somerset village of Pill, just outside Bristol, on 5th August.
