What an extraordinary night. ✨

ZOE International’s A Night of Hope was an incredibly inspiring evening, bringing people together to learn more about the realities of child trafficking and the life-changing work ZOE is doing around the world to prevent trafficking, rescue children, and restore lives.

My hope is that this evening impacted people far beyond the walls of the room, that the stories shared moved hearts, opened eyes, and inspired each of us to consider how we can make a difference in the lives of children who are being exploited every single day.

To everyone who attended, supported, donated, and gave so generously, thank you. Because of you, we raised nearly $200,000 to help continue the work ZOE began 23 years ago. What an incredible testament to what can happen when people come together with compassion, purpose, and a commitment to creating change.

The night may be over, but the mission continues. ❤️

FCI was honored to join a community press conference hosted by the District Attorney’s Office, the City of Compton, the City of Lynwood, and our community partner Restoration Diversion Services (RDS).

Our staff stood alongside many of our partners to raise awareness about human trafficking and connect community members with resources. We’re grateful for every opportunity to work together to bring hope and support to those who need it.

"When you think of human trafficking, where does your mind go?
For many of us, the image is distant—shadowy figures in foreign countries, victims smuggled across borders, dangers that exist somewhere “over there.” It’s a comfortable narrative, really. It allows us to believe our children are safe in places like Santa Clarita, with its tree-lined streets, excellent schools, and stable communities. But that’s exactly the myth that needs to be shattered.

The Danger Hidden in Plain Sight
At the 11th Annual SCV Human Trafficking Prevention Summit held at College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, California on October 3rd, the stories shared with community members, NGOs, and government agencies weren’t from faraway places. They were from right here—from our neighborhoods, our schools, our community.
Ryan Last’s story reminds us that predators don’t discriminate based on zip codes or family income. The 17-year-old from Santa Clarita had everything going for him: a loving family, a bright future, and college tours completed. Yet in 2022, online blackmailers trapped him in a nightmare called sextortion: the act of threatening to share explicit images if one does not comply with the perpetrator’s demands. Convinced to send a compromising photo, then threatened with exposure to everyone he knew, Ryan felt so hopeless that he took his own life—despite having every advantage our community could offer.

Thailand was more than a trip—it was an encounter with God that our family will never forget. 🇹🇭🤍

We had the incredible honor of visiting @zoe_int House of Destiny, a home for children who have been rescued and restored from trafficking. Being there, loving on these precious children, serving them, worshiping with them, and simply being present was both heartbreaking and so beautiful. What a privilege it was to remind them that they are seen, loved, valued, and deeply known by God.

And then came our Zoe Worship Night… a night about the restoration of God. Something I will carry in my heart forever ❤️‍🔥

Leading worship in that room along side an incredible Thai worship team was powerful, and getting to share my testimony afterward was completely life-changing. As I shared what God has brought me through, watching the kids respond and hearing the things they shared afterward absolutely wrecked me—in the best way. Their words, their openness, their hunger for God, and the way they connected with my story filled my heart beyond words. I am forever changed because of it 😭

I went into it thinking we were going to serve, but God reminded me that when we say yes to Him, He serves something back into us too.

Our family came home changed. Our hearts are fuller, our faith is deeper, and we will never forget the faces, stories, worship, and moments God allowed us to experience. All thanks to the amazing Dodd Squad! Jessica and Justice we couldn’t have had this experience without you two. We loved spending fun quality time together as a family. We will cherish these memories forever. We love you so much!

Thailand, you have a piece of our hearts forever. 🇹🇭❤️

Jesus is still rescuing, restoring, healing, and transforming lives—and we got to witness it firsthand.

To every person who prayed, gave, supported, or helped make this trip possible: thank you! You didn’t just help send us on a trip. You helped us carry the love of Jesus to children who needed to know they are not forgotten. 🙏🏼
