siop shop is an og of the northern quarter with its fun, colourful + retro aesthetic. they roast their own coffee, feature guest roasters + have several coffees in for pour over. they also have the biggest and most delicious doughnuts in mcr - best believe they have some cool ones lined up for later this month! by @taheerisme

i visited coffi late last year

+ it was very much a vibe

though i never got to posting many of the photos.

i have to say it still stands as one of my favourite coffee shop visits ever

the staff were super friendly + the atmosphere was warm and inviting which contrasted beautifully with the cold + rainy weather outside

it certainly made for a great first impression of liverpool

also the COFFI

the only thing better than great coffee is the people behind them

what a lovely afternoon in sheffield getting way too caffeinated and meeting some of the best coffee roasters in the country

some notable highlights:

☆ an apple co-ferment from @17grams which tasted like vanilla ice cream
☆ my friend @rossobrewin repping @module.roast and gifting me with the loveliest coffee from @perii_coffee
☆ learning about @arcadiagreencoffee from my friend @maverickk08 + trying the funkiest, fruitiest red honey papayo from farmer graciela rodriguez
☆ the most intriguing vietnamese lavender co-ferment from @wearenamsong
☆ a washed gesha straight off the press from @taithcoffee
☆ seeing @wheres___holly from @cataexport repping @darkmatterroasters
☆ TA @theonewiththepigeon
☆ a cgle-17 hybrid (caturra + gesha) from @nostoscoffee
☆ the juiciest natural gesha from @rawmattercoffee (which i had to take home)

there was also several other vendors including gooey + made matcha, but i'd been so distracted by the coffee i'd forgotten + then my phone died taken in Trafalgar Warehouse by @taheerisme

meet elizabeth, the newest coffee van in manchester and ran by owner luke!

situated right by deansgate tram stop, this has to be one of the coolest coffee spots i've visited

i just knew that i had to make a little sketch!

today i got a long black from guest roaster kobean

@kobeancoffeeroasters / limmu seka district - community g2 / ethiopia / heirloom / 72hr washed / baked apple, vanilla + cocoa

it was delicious
as was the pumpkin spice crossaint!

it was lovely meeting luke and his partner cassie (who are both super sweet) + seeing just how quickly a community was building around them

one of the most highly recommended coffee shops in manchester

and has been on my list to visit (again) for an eternity

the first time i visited oscillate was back in march when i attended the dial in mag issue 3 launch party with ralph. i knew then that i had to come back

and this day was that day

a clean, bright interior, large windows + every bit of sun shining through

i knew i wanted a pour over

but couldn't decide between the two on the menu (they both sounded amazing)

that was until owner patrick whipped out a second menu from under the cabinet with two additional coffees including this banger from nostos

@nostoscoffee / lactic geisha - aroma nativo / colombia / geisha / honey lactic fermentation / lychee, mango, peach, lemongrass

it was super lychee-y, super fruity + ever so slightly herby (herbacious)
it was truly a memorable pour over!

oscillate is a staple in the neighbourhood and on everyone's recommendation list. patrick is super accomodating and gives a run down on every coffee on the menu. + there's a tonne of coffees on retail including ones (002 and 003) roasted by them

+ on this day i made my most difficult sketch yet (the perspective was challenging)

oscillate is for sure a must-visit! taken in Urmston by @taheerisme

a cupping of coffees from semilla

a sourcer of green coffee which believes in sourcing ethically and prioritising the longevity of partnerships

for each origin, semilla invests in one producer group and whole heartedly, committing to their lots for years to come

it was lovely getting to learn about semilla and their mission, seeing the coffee gang after a loong time + eating pizza

my favourite coffees:

washed / pink bourbon / mk-26-12 / wison & milvia ortega / monkaaba / colombia

washed / gesha / mk-26-43 / los magnificos / monkaaba / colombia

i also favoured the honeys + naturals

thank you semilla, rachel, the atrium + martin for a great night!

+ thank you nadia (slide 8) for spoiling me + the gang with several coffee samples each (including a liberica from malaysia)! i'm going to have a fun time getting through them! by @taheerisme

leeds is home to the icon that is north star

roasting and supplying coffee for a range of coffee shops across leeds and the UK including their own

this day i visited their leeds dock location (the inspiration behind their iconic 'the docks' house blend)

+ tried their guest bean from colombia

la colmena (a community of thirty coffee-growing families) / huila, colombia / field blend / washed / stone fruit, green apple + caramel

it was super light + fruity

like the shop which is bright, spacious, airy + the perfect place to work from

☆

north star is founded on the belief that 'coffee can and should create lasting value for everyone connected to it'

that means fostering long-term partnerships with producers + the supply chain which are rooted in trust, transparency, fairness, care for the future + mutual respect

helping customers engage more deeply with the coffee they drink (by offering training courses)

+ making specialty coffee feel more open and approachable taken in Leeds Dock by @taheerisme

everything we love about the og just bigger, bluer, and there's brunch

spoiler alert, i did not get brunch this day but did get a 'funky' long black

@taithcoffee / colombia / bourbon aji / anaerobic innoculated natural / bubblegum, banana + blueberry

and it was bubblegum and FUNK to a T!

overall what a great space - perfect to work from. the staff are lovely and accommodating, there's brunch, and the retail shelves are fully stocked

+ i may have taken some @swevencoffee beans home with me

i look forward to going back for some more great coffee and perhaps an apple butter pecan french toast (which looks amazing)! taken in Manchester, United Kingdom by @taheerisme

a staple in the mcr speciality coffee scene

familiar, fruity, and funky are the choices for an espresso and funky is indeed funky, think blueberry pie, ribena, and popcorn - yes popcorn (a coffee that was literally co-fermented in butter)!

and on top of that, a menu for the coffees on filter that week

i visited fort twice last week, first getting a funky espresso

"drunken cherry" / colombia / caturra / cherry co-ferment / maraschino cherry, earl grey + amaretto / @sproutcoffeeroasters.art

and second, a fruity iced espresso

"shyira" / rwanda / red bourbon / natural / black cherry, wine gums + cola / @redbankcoffee

and they both indeed slapped

fort is the place for great coffee (and a big selection of it too), coffee enthusiasts, and a range of delicious bakes (which i do not consume enough of)!

the guys here are super lovely and super into coffee

+ they've just opened a new big BRUNCH site over on lever street which i am still yet to try but will do asap!

fort should genuinely be in everyone's top 5! by @taheerisme
