This weekend we welcomed Chef Pete Kerns, of Abbie Hill Produce, to our farm. Guests traveled from places as far away as Rockford, IL. to gather around the table with friends, family and others who shared an adventurous spirit.

It all came together in our historic barn. Folks laughed, lingered, cozied up with afghan blankets and apple cider. We enjoyed an Italian-inspired melody of flavors, harkening the transition of summer into fall. Food grown right here in Iowa by Iowans, including a few folks in the room.

These Harvest Tables are truly a labor of love for those of us behind-the-scene. We especially feel gratitude to Pete and his family for taking the time out of their busy schedules to cook for us.

One guest said there are “good people” here and, truly, it felt like serving family. We are humbled by each and every one of you who showed up! Thank you!

And just when we think a night can’t get any better, it does.

A humble thank you to Chef Jes (@taste.osage), again. You floored us with craft, ingenuity and some mad organization skills as you layered each course so intricately for last night’s Harvest Table. We could’ve watched you plate for hours and been mesmerized enough for the night.

And to the 30 guests who dined at Tailwind, you filled our cups! A toast to all of you, without you showing up there wouldn’t have been anyone to cook for!

The execution of last night’s meal was swept up in many a daydream about appearance, colors, aromas and energy. And it was exactly how I (Flannery) imagined it to be. That leaves me incredibly thankful to those mentioned above and to @adam.bohach , who is patient and bold enough to vision alongside me. #tailwindacres #iowafarmtotable #agtourism taken in Tailwind Acres by @tailwindacres

Yoga requires flexibility?
Hmmm, that might not be a requirement. But, maybe the better phrase is life requires flexibility.

If you’re sitting and watching the weather wondering how your weekend plans will shake up, we see you.

Speaking of plans Yoga instructor, Heidi Rockweiler from The Well, is on for Poses and Posies- yoga in the barn on Saturday 8:30-9:30am. And we know how to pivot if it’s rainy! Yoga followed by pre-made bouquets and baked goods in the barn. I’m fairly certain rain on the tin roof could probably be on a Spotify song list under “calm.”

We do need to know numbers ahead of time for this yoga class. Visit www.tailwindacres.com/tailwindevents. Closing registration at Noon this Friday, August 14. So last call, y’all!

Hello, little blue truck!

Did we buy a farm truck? Not exactly…

For nearly 8 years, I’ve admired this adorable 1975 Dodge on my neighborhood walks. I always thought it was just so cute! I finally worked up the courage to write a letter to its owner, asking if I could borrow it to fill with flowers and use as a backdrop for some photos.

And here she is! 💙

Our generous neighbor, Cory, is sharing a little piece of family history with us. This was the first car he ever drove, passed down to him from his Grandpappy. And he even delivered it to the farm for us!

So, in celebration of our little blue truck, we’re having a giveaway for tomorrow (Aug. 8) ONLY!

We didn’t let the rain get us down! In fact, we had one group of three brave the elements and pick gorgeous flowers despite the weather.

Don’t worry if you opted to stay in last night and drink a cup of hot cocoa… there will be chances for you to take home some beauties!
