In 1997, Berlin hosted one of the defining moments in electronic music as Love Parade filled the city’s streets with more than a million ravers.

On August 13, 2004, during the Opening Ceremony of the Athens Olympic Games, Tiësto became the first DJ ever to perform at the Olympics.

His 90-minute set accompanied the Parade of Nations in front of 72,000 spectators inside the stadium and an estimated global TV audience of 4 billion people. The performance featured tracks like Traffic, Adagio for Strings, Flight 643, and Lethal Industry, along with original music created specifically for the ceremony.

One unforgettable moment came when the Dutch delegation spotted their fellow countryman behind the decks and started dancing in front of the booth, prompting organizers to guide them back into the parade.
