howdy, introduction incoming . . .

torri here & this year is the very beginning of my venture into the unknown as I bid farewell to my humble little life here in west oz. with little other than my backpack and my boyfriend, i’m about to embark on a new way of doing life. with the intention to reject conventional tourism, our hope is to experience the world all the while adopting the art of slow travel. no return ticket and no itinerary, but a whole lot of willingness to let our intuition lead us there.

not every day while travelling is filled with aesthetically pleasing sights and bucket list activities, sometimes it’s the mundane things that make you feel something inside. make it up as you go, move through your days in a way that feels good for you. soak in the simplicity.

walk > tricycle 🌴🥥
after all the “white beach ma’am” calls while in port barton, we decided to slip on some comfy shoes and walk there instead of riding in a tricycle. highly recommend for anyone with two feet & a heartbeat. nothing quite like being rewarded by pulling up on a white sandy beach lined with palm trees.

tales of toz is back in aus. after three months of travel, my heart was telling me to return home. the beauty of travel is that it gives you the space to quiet the noise that saturates the mundanity of every day life. to ask yourself the big questions, uncovering parts that are otherwise wrapped up tight in the safety of home. while I use what I’ve learned to find my feet again, I’ll continue to share some special moments from along the way.

An afternoon in Chiang Mai spent in the presence of these beautiful Asian Elephants who have been rescued and are now cared for by locals at The Elephant Nature Park here in Thailand. Historically, elephants were used for transportation, logging in the jungles, in festivals and considered a symbol of status. As technology advanced and elephant labour decreased, many elephants were left without purpose, which led to them being mistreated and living in poor conditions. This organisation is ethical, ensuring 100% “hands off” policy, with the intention to observe.

Today I signed myself to a private Vietnamese cooking class 🥢🪭🍚 I jumped on the pushy and rode out to Thung Sen, where I chose three items from menu, popped on my apron and got stuck in. Whipping up some spring rolls, a papaya salad & some vietnamese fried tofu in tomato sauce with mr chef man, before sitting down to enjoy the fruits of my labour with a pretty sweet view. A fun little drizzly day activity to do when in ‘nam.
