The best remedy I’ve found so far is make a list so it has somewhere to live,# and you can let it go.

Well sh!t I just lay there thinking about the damn list 😜

If you can’t get it out of your head, just get up and do it. It takes less time and no more head torture.

There’s something important, about showing you this.

Not just the pretty finished jar. 🤩

The actual process…

We source our suet local.
We render our tallow in house.
We formulate our products intentionally.
We whip, fill and finish every batch ourselves.

Nothing is farmed out to a manufacturer. There isn’t a giant tub of premade body butter showing up at our door that we slap a label on.

When you buy from Tallow & Things, you’re buying something that was actually made by us — in house, local, in small batches, with ingredients we chose for a reason.

Our Body Butter is simple on purpose.

I think if you’re going to put something on your skin, you deserve to know not only what’s in it — but who made it and how. 🤍

…that it take me a WEEK, sometimes more to make a batch. 🤯

The thing is this…

When you are not buying pre-made tallow that just needs to be melted down, so you can mix, jar and label. The steps before that can be tedious and time consuming.

Each batch has its own behavior, its own personality, and you need to adjust as a result.

This is why your big manufacturers won’t do it.
Why some start skipping these initial steps all together, and just letting someone else do this heavy lifting for them.

Making tallow that will not be filled with added oils, emulsifiers and unnamed additives takes patience and perseverance.

I choose the extra steps because YOU matter. You experience. Your enjoyment. Your pride in your skin matters. It all matters to ME.

Yep, those four pans would’ve become almost forty jars of body butter — about three thousand 💸 in potential retail sales. And today, straight into the trash.🚮

Making tallow at scale isn’t as glamorous as social media makes it look. You’re working with a natural ingredient, and sometimes nature simply has other plans.💩

Could I buy pre-rendered, deodorized tallow in bulk to save time and avoid losses like this? Sure.
Could I outsource production to a manufacturer and simply put my label on the jars? Sure.

But that’s just not how we do it at Tallow & Things. Every batch minimal ingredient is rendered, purified, whipped, and finished by us.🙌🏻

That means sometimes a batch doesn’t meet our standards... and when it doesn’t, it doesn’t make it into a jar.
It makes it into the trash. 🫠

There are wonderful tallow makers out there, and there are also products made with heavily processed tallow or filled with additional ingredients to simplify large-scale production.

That’s why it’s always worth asking questions about where your skincare comes from and how it’s actually made.

As for these four pans...
Bruce Lee was right.
Today I chose peace. 😂

Because I’d rather throw away a batch than ask you to put something on your skin that I wouldn’t proudly use on mine.

That’s the standard. Every single time. 🤍
