39 years ago today Jeff and I were married. It was the one year anniversary of the day we met. Even then, I could feel we were building our story. I remember 3 days into meeting Jeff, we were having a picnic. I still remember where I was when I thought, … ‘ there was my life before Jeffrey Scott Beardsley and my life with him, going forward’ And I was so right.

We have certainly had stormy seasons in our marriage. But not only does it not detract from, but I’m proud that we have not only survived, but thrived. One of my favorite sayings I’ve come across, “have a widow’s heart while your spouse is alive.” It really makes me want to make the very most out of every day …. even 40 years later. by @tamerabeardsley

Our Little House turned 32 recently … and this has me feeling all the gratitude and memories! I spent the last week combing through our family scrapbooks. It made me realize I have truly spent the last three decades “Making My Life My Art” Turning this little house into a home I cherish and all the richer for the children who grew up here.

Our house has evolved the way a family does, forever changing, always moving forward … cultivating love, meaning and beautiful memories along the way. From a playhouse and raised deck, that changed from a toddler playground to a space for young teen video games, to a sweet wooden bridge over the waterfall, that Jeff built. Our house too is in constant evolution.

Now our Little House welcomes weekly visits from our grandchildren, the true dessert in life! Our tiny backyard’s latest carnation was a beautiful Fall Campout, with a side of pool filled with glitter beach balls. Today as I write this … my heart is full of gratitude for our Little House and the ability to Make My Life My Art.

Jeff and I are always looking for destinations off the beaten path, so our last trip to Palm Springs had us heading out to Salton Sea’s Bombay Beach.

Salton Sea, about an hour and a half out, was made accidentally in 1905. There was a 2 year breach from poorly constructed agricultural channels bringing water from the Colorado River. By the 1950’s and 1960’s it was a booming resort town. even bringing in the top Hollywood stars.

Now Bombay Beach is part ghost town. Part eccentric art enclave. It’s also home to the iconic desert bar @ski.inn_bombaybeach A genuine desert hangout and our afternoon destination. Dollar bills paper all the walls!

One of my favorites about going off the beaten path is finding things you never expected! This trip was all of the large scale sculptures, murals and conceptual pieces! I had no idea Bombay Beach had their own Biennale exhibition! Art has helped transform a decaying 1950’s resort town into a surreal, vibrant desert art enclave! taken in Bombay Beach, Salton Sea by @tamerabeardsley

Give me a boutique hotel with a huge pool and amazing vistas … I’m a very happy camper! @thepalmsatindianhead checks my boxes for a beautiful desert getaway! We’ve been to this historic,mid century motel, in Borrego Springs California many times, but this visit was the best by far! That’s because they have finally reopened the @thedivebarborrego It’s an underground bar with an under water view of the pool! I got to swim into the sunset. Then Dry off poolside, wrap myself with my fabulous feather kimono, add a turban and I was set to take the steps down inso the intimate retro bar! I design accessories to bring added magical sparkle to the good days and protective armor and confidence on the challenging days. Each piece I create is infused with my signature ‘Down To Earth Glamour’ These handcrafted floral shell earrings are the piece I continually reach for when styling my outfits. Whether I’m looking for some quick and easy glamour or some artful polish, they have me covered! One of my favorite things about them is the clip back, that makes for the easiest on and off! Adding a hat and sunglasses, it’s literally instant polish! What is your quick trick for adding outfit polish? You know I always love to hear!

I have been playing around with a raffia belt I made. I wanted to add a little more texture to this white top and skirt, so I tied the belt under the peplum. I added my straw hat and shell cuffs and was so happy how it all came together! by @tamerabeardsley

Hello Monday … Hello Gratitude! I have been making daily Gratitude Lists for almost a decade … and they literally changed my life! My lists have become an easy way to notice more Glimmers in my life, to be present and appreciative in life’s ordinary moments.

I believe many times we get more of what we think of most and I want more joy, beauty and love. Practicing Gratitude has helped me change simple moments into meaningful, memorable and even sacred moments.

Just because I wanted this happy vintage dress in my feed! I found this beauty at a vintage shop in Palm Springs so many years ago! She’s so distinct, she doesn’t get out much, just once 5 years ago in Scottsdale and recently for a tiki night out. But both times, this fabulous vintage dress elevated my joy for the event! by @tamerabeardsley

Sometimes I love getting our miles in Dana Point Harbor. An outfit I love, that works with comfortable walking shoes, means we can stop for cocktails or lunch too! Sunday Jeff and I got six miles in and had a lovely lunch out! My favorite shell earrings and my newest design, a shell brooch, finished off my outfit of summer neutrals and straw accessories. by @tamerabeardsley

Happy Summer my friends! I’ve had my July 4th decor up for a couple of weeks! Including my set outdoor table. It’s made impromptu alfresco meals a breeze! As well as my favorite, family crafts! I brought out an assortment of woodland pieces, embroidery floss, feathers and a cool temperature glue gun! I was amazed by all of the different design directions everyone had! Especially @megankbeardsley woven canopy!! These simple times with family make my heart so full! Wishing you and yours a wonderful summer! by @tamerabeardsley

I’ve been spending a lot of time‘playing’ in my own backyard recently. I redid our lounger corner with a new sofa bed and umbrella. I’m in the process of adding even more flowers because I love the feeling sitting there. It’s like being tucked into a secret garden.

Above the dining table I installed hanging paper lanterns to complement my tablescape of blue and white. To protect them from the drizzling weather, sprayed them with a clear acrylic coat.

I decorated both inside and out with the lemons I’ve grown on our espalier trees. Lemon yellow is such a happy summer color!
