Back in July 2026, @dwarsvlei_guest_farm situated outside of Middelburg in the Karoo became a centre of gravity drawing people from across the country for the fifth edition of @karoo_winter_wool_festival.

Twyg fashion editor @tandekilemkize writes about returning to the festival and reflects on the second iteration of Wool World - an ongoing curatorial exploration between fashion designer @lezanneviviers and architects @paperarchitect & @justhoven.

Last year I had the privilege of curating Threads of Renewal as part of the @africatextiletalks 2025 programme, first in Cape Town then followed by the second iteration in Johannesburg.

The exhibition explored how memory can be held and carried forward through material and textile practices.

I’m excited to expand on this conversation at @decorexafrica in the @futuretalksafrica programme. I’ll be moderating a discussion with five incredible artist who were part of the exhibition. The panellists are @yonela_makoba @nwabisantl0kwana Mbali Mthethwa from @theherd.studio and @lizmaelane

@twygmag was commissioned by @mohairsouthafrica to create an editorial around their collection with UK-based designer @sophiestellerstudio which I was creative lead for.

With the impeccable vision of @iamkeithvirgo’s lens, the gentle and kind support of @luh.ra, and the perfect pairing of @nondi__ and @leigh_jansen_, our small but mighty team came together and magic was made.

It was special from the onset. We arrived at Noordehoek Beach in darkness, watching the moon fade away as the first light appeared, a Soft Landing into the liminality of dawn.

Our first frame captured with the arrival of that first light.
