A little bit special, this October by @tanha.ink

For the first time, I’m sharing the original colored-pencil drawings of the plants in my black garden.

The framed drawings turned out to be harder to capture in photographs than I’d expected. So for this first hello, I wanted you to see them in person. Come discover the grain of the paper and the layers of colored pencil—and take your time finding the details that only reveal themselves when you look closely, and linger a little longer.

(After the pop-up, I’ll gradually share photos of the original drawings here, too ·͜·)

I’ve also prepared a few small items featuring plants from the garden. Some are available in limited quantities, so be sure to take a look.

See you at Der Stuhl in Yeonhui-dong.

P.S. There will also be a variety of pieces and small goods by other Inked Wall artists. I hope you enjoy exploring their work, too ·͜·

Everything she loves, gathered into a single piece. A sword, a dragon, wings, and two fish turning to face each other.

Whatever you have long held in your heart, in the Black Garden it can bloom and come to life, just as you wish. This piece was completed over four sessions. Thank you for staying in the garden for so long. Wherever you are, I truly hope you live as the one you dream of being.

No. 52 — The Lizard Who Opens New Eyes
Black Garden Archive
Available Design

Inhabits damp crevices beneath the stone walls of the Black Garden. The eyes on its head are vestigial; it sees the world only through the pair of eyes at the tip of its tail. These eyes never close. What they see builds up in the tail, layer upon layer, its patterns shifting irregularly each time. When the tail’s memories grow too heavy, it severs its own tail. For several days, until new eyes sprout, the lizard rests in the crevice, seeing nothing. The new eyes do not see what the old ones saw.

No. 62 — The Colorless Dreamer

A fish that dreams in monochrome — An aquatic species inhabiting the Black Pond. It spends most of its time dreaming just beneath the surface. When it wakes, or when touched by sorrow, it closes all of its eyes and slips into the water‘s shadow.
