For my friends who haven’t heard, my Dad passed a couple weeks ago after a tragic accident cutting down a tree. I’m gonna miss my Dad. I’m gonna miss hearing about his obsession with 90 day fiancé. I’m gonna miss driving past a new construction site and hearing, “I wonder what their building there” as if anyone in the car would have had any idea. I’m gonna miss getting a bunch of his old clothes for Christmas because he wanted as many gifts as possible so opening presents wouldn’t end too quickly. I’m going to miss the yearly texts from my mom with a picture of him in a cast and thinking, “what’d he do this time?” I’m gonna miss the phone call that had no purpose except for, “hey, haven’t talked to you for awhile, just want to check in and see how you’re doing.” I’m gonna miss telling him about the next job I work on, the next new car I buy and maybe the next girl I meet. I’m going to miss him telling me that he selfishly wants me to move back to Washington so we’d be closer to each other while still supporting me in my endeavors. I’m going to miss our moments of reconciliation after getting into it and knowing that no matter what, he loves me. Even though it was hard for him to show it, I know he loved my brothers and me so so so much and I am so glad he was my Dad. I love you, Dad. by @tannergoheen

Mother,
Thank you for reading to me every morning, a practice that taught me the importance of the calm and still moment after waking. Thank you for allowing freedom in my education to explore and be creative in my own way, even if that meant sitting in my room building a little world around a stack of baseball cards. Thank you for the Thursday trips to the mountain and understanding that those days were just as educational as writing a book report. Thank you for always being willing to try something new to better your mental, spiritual, and physical health. Thank you for showing me what it's like to be full of life and energy around others while knowing how necessary time alone is in order to stay sane. Thank you for making me feel talented and extrodinary even when I feel talentless and ordinary. Thank you for seeing the good in me. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for being my mother then, now, and always.
