Originally founded in 1934 as City Credit Union of Tacoma, TAPCO was created to make financial services more accessible for local workers and their families. TAPCO Shred Day is coming up Saturday, October 17, so now’s a good time to gather the old statements, bills, credit card offers, and other sensitive paper documents you’ve been meaning to get rid of.

📍 TAPCO Main + Canyon branches
🕘 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., or until the trucks are full
📄 Three-bag limit per person

We’ll also be collecting non-perishable food donations at both locations. One stop, less clutter, and a chance to support our neighbors. 🥫💙

Financial education can start with a simple conversation about the tools we use every day. 💙

That idea is at the heart of TAPCO’s work with young people and the reason this new support matters.

TAPCO was selected as one of 24 credit unions nationwide to receive the At-Risk Youth Financial Well-Being Grant, helping us continue creating practical opportunities for young people to understand checking, saving, credit and the role each can play in their financial future.

As Richard Stirgus, VP of Marketing and Community, shared: “If you can help individuals understand how to leverage a checking account, a savings account, and credit, you can help them build a successful financial plan.”

The grant gives us room to keep building on moments like this through education, community partnerships and hands-on learning.
