Hi, I’m Tara and I start planning my next trip before I’ve unpacked from the last one.

I’m based in New England, work a 9–5, take my PTO seriously, and travel (mostly) solo because I don’t feel like waiting for someone else to go.

I love a beautiful hotel, a well-planned itinerary, and taking Friday afternoons off.

Most of my trips are quick getaways, but every once in a while I squeeze in a longer one too.

Here you’ll mostly find hotel stays I genuinely loved, weekend trip ideas, and the kind of travel inspo for people who love to go somewhere but still have emails waiting for them on Monday morning.

Follow along, I have a lot of good trips coming up.

TRY A GHOST TOUR!

I am a sucker for a ghost tour whenever I travel, but ironically, I’ve never done one in my home state.

I’ve lived in Rhode Island basically my whole life and had no idea Providence had this much haunted history.

I did the Real Ghosts of Providence tour with @pvdtourco and had such a fun night. We walked around the city hearing some of the creepy (and honestly just really interesting) stories behind places I’ve probably passed a million times and never thought twice about.

It was a little spooky, a little history, and a really fun way to spend a night in Providence.

Thanks Providence Tour Company for having me.

This has become my favorite travel souvenir and it costs about $2.

I’ve always bought myself a Christmas ornament from every place I visit. It’s a nostalgic and fun way to relive my travels every December.

But recently, I came across the idea of mailing myself a postcard.

Before I drop it in the mailbox, I write about what I did that day, what surprised me, or a little moment I don’t want to forget.

It’s like creating a tiny travel diary, one postcard at a time. Each one captures the trip in my own words and I can’t wait to look back and read them years from now.

It’s simple, inexpensive, and takes up zero space in my suitcase.

What’s your favorite travel souvenir?

As a New England girl, “Why would you want to go somewhere cold in the summer?” was probably the question I got asked the most when I planned this trip.

And if I’m being honest, Alaska was never at the top of my travel bucket list. But after spending 7 days cruising with Virgin Voyages, my mind has completely changed.

I actually took more still footage than video so here is just the highlight reel.

Our stops included:
Ketchikan (hello, lumberjacks)
Sitka (eagles, whales, and bears, oh my!)
Prince Rupert, BC (what a hidden gem)

Mystic is about to make dinner a lot more interesting.

I recently got a preview of Pop Over’s upcoming Summer Supper Club in Mystic, and what stood out most was how approachable it felt.

This isn’t a formal fine dining experience. Think laid-back summer evenings, a set dining time, themed menus that remain a surprise until you arrive, and an intimate setting designed to bring people together.

While full details are still being released, expect rotating six-course menus, affordable pricing, and a different experience each time.

After getting a sneak peek, I have a feeling this is going to become one of Mystic’s most unique summer events.

Follow @popovermystic for updates and future Supper Club announcements.

Unlimited tomato soup and bread for lunch? Say less.

Friðheimar is a working tomato greenhouse in the middle of Iceland’s Golden Circle and yes, you can eat there.

They grow tomatoes year-round using geothermal energy and nearly everything on the menu is tomato based: soup, bread, beer, even dessert.

What to know before you go:

📍 Located directly on the Golden Circle loop, easy to add to your route
⏱️ Plan for at least an hour to really enjoy it
🍞 The tomato soup and fresh bread are unlimited (and the bread is amazing)
🔥 It’s HOT and humid inside, wear layers you can take off
📅 Book in advance, it gets packed with tour groups, especially midday
🕓 Open year-round but closes at 4pm, so plan accordingly
🧂 Grab some tomato salt from the shop before you leave
🐴 There are Icelandic horses outside too, say hi before or after lunch

Is it worth it?
Eating inside a greenhouse surrounded by tomato plants made this feel like more than just another meal stop. It was a little pricey, but the unlimited soup and bread made it feel much more reasonable.

Save for your Iceland trip 🇮🇸
