Volvemos de Corvallis, Oregon, después de vivir una celebración maravillosa junto a nuestro partner OptiTrack, clientes y distribuidores de todo el mundo 🤝

Nuestro equipo técnico y CEO junto al fundador y CEO de @target3d_ltd y también nuestro compañero del equipo técnico de Londres, han disfrutado de unos días muy especiales en la sede de @optitrack

🚀 Del 5 al 7 de octubre, se celebró el primer evento OptiFest, donde nos reunieron a todos en torno a la tecnología Motion Capture con jornadas de formación práctica, demostraciones en directo, visitas a la fábrica, talleres, conferencias, buena comida y, por supuesto, ¡muchos momentos para compartir y disfrutar!

🎥 Han sido unos días llenos de aprendizaje, intercambio de experiencias y nuevas perspectivas sobre las posibilidades de la captura de movimiento. Una oportunidad para conocer más de cerca las novedades desde la fábrica como proveedores oficiales de la tecnología líder del mercado, conectar con otros profesionales del sector y seguir explorando todo lo que está por venir.

“We’re interested in having multiple ways of tracking, moving and sensing bodies in space…”

How do we move through, and live in, the spaces we design?

That’s the question driving research at UCL’s BodyLab at the Bartlett School of Architecture bartlettarchucl, a multi-use space where researchers, students and other specialists explore the relationship between the body, the space and data.

We were delighted to supply and install the motion capture system at the heart of it, a 16 camera @optitrack setup that gives the lab the flexibility to take on everything from neuro-rehabilitation research to immersive storytelling.

A ceiling rig split by a curtain means two projects can run side by side, and OptiTrack’s high precision means it can just as easily track a human dancer or a small robot.

The 15th of September is International Dot Day. At Target3D, our dots are a little different. We call them markers, and they are the foundation of motion capture.

A dot is a moment in time. An anchor point on a rigid body, tracked frame by frame to reconstruct movement in 3D. On this day we're celebrating how a single dot can shape how we research and create.

Whether it's tracking autonomous drones across a farm field or delivering action-packed video game cinematics, it all starts with a dot.

You'd be surprised what your walk reveals about you. Doctors and researchers use gait analysis to spot signs of injury, disease, movement dysfunction and to enhance sports performance and rehab outcomes.

Dr Matthew Banger and colleagues at @imperialcollege's MSk Lab are using markerless motion capture to push this further, including one study asking whether gait could flag disease risk before symptoms even appear.

At The University of Kent's historic Chatham Dockyard site, Target3D installed an 18 camera OptiTrack PrimeX 13 system inside No.1 Smithery, a nearly 220 year old building.

Where shipwrights once built vessels for the Royal Navy, students now capture movement data to create digital worlds, animated characters and immersive experiences.

Today we tested high-speed kicks and twirls, comparing performance between markerless and marker-based systems. We also emphasised movement in the volume to see how tracking holds up beyond the optimal capture space.

This is a great example of how valuable markerless tracking can be for sports and performance, letting athletes like martial artists, dancers, and other performers be recorded with minimal interference.

If you know motion capture, you know occlusion can be a constant battle.

In our Duplex Mode testing, we tried a simple hug to see how the tracking held up. Both marker-based and markerless systems maintained their precision!

We’re pleased to share this update on Target3D’s installation of a motion capture stage at The University of Kent's The Historic Dockyard Chatham site. ⚓🚢

We delivered an 18 camera @optitrack PrimeX 13 system inside a Grade II listed building, No.1 Smithery, built in 1806, as part of the £15M Docking Station regeneration project.

The brief came with some challenges: no altering the historic fabric of the building, tight deadlines and a system that needed to be flexible enough to cover several applications.

Back for more testing in the studio, and this time we tried an interaction that’s deceptively simple: a high five. 🙌

Multiple performers with overlapping movement and hands meeting mid-air can challenge some tracking systems, but the results with our markerless Duplex mode and marker-based @optitrack setup speak for themselves: the system remains precise under direct contact, not just proximity.
