We set a world record with this gun. Now we gave it a full review.

The Benelli Ethos SuperSport A.I. is the shotgun I used to break a clay at 201 yards, so it’s always going to have a special place in my safe. But how does the record gun hold up for regular shooting?

The full review is live now. Watch it using the link in our bio.

I didn’t have the highest expectations for the Weatherby Orion SxS. I was wrong.

This 28 gauge side-by-side moved naturally on target, shot soft with both target and upland loads, and its extractors keep your hulls out of the tall grass. It may not be overly fancy, but it flat out shoots, and at a reasonable price point it’s a double you can actually hunt hard without babying it.

The full video review is out now. Link in bio.

Would you take this side-by-side hunting?

At Perazzi, they hand true the barrels. A craftsman looks down the tube at a light on the wall with a black line on it, and bends the barrel as he goes until that line runs perfectly straight. They told us there’s no machine that does it better, and they didn’t mean cheaper or faster, they meant better. Pretty cool to see in person. by @targetfocusedlife

We’ve been working on something a little different at ASP.

ASP Afterglow is officially happening Friday, October 16.

We ran the course this week, and it’s unlike anything we’ve done before.

5-Stand under the lights.
UV clays glowing as they leave the thrower
A completely different look once the sun goes down.

Shooting starts around 7:30 PM.

Rounds are $15, and ASP members can use their punch cards.

We’ll have food, snacks and soft drinks available all night. More importantly, we'll have shells for sale all night as well, including Federal Cosmic shotshells, which have wads that glow under the black lights as you shoot.

Bring your crew. Come grab some food. Hang out as the sun goes down. Then step into the lights and shoot a round of 5-Stand like you’ve never shot it before.

Friday, October 16.

Save the date and book your spot now:

Get your crew together, pick your time, and come see what Afterglow is all about.

We’ll see you after dark. taken in Alexandria Shooting Park by @targetfocusedlife

Hand checkering at Perazzi. I was mesmerized at the speed and precision. We have a whole video of our Perazzi visit with Berg’s Outdoors on YouTube if you’re curious about how things are done at one of the world’s finest shotgun makers. by @targetfocusedlife

One of the coolest things from our visit to Perazzi was watching Master Zacchi engrave a shotgun receiver. He's been at it for over 57 years, and when I asked him how long it takes to get good, he said about 20 years. When you get a shotgun like this, you're not just getting a shotgun; you're getting a piece of art from a highly skilled artist. Incredible to see in person.

How do you pronounce Perazzi? We went to Italy to find out. We also got an inside look at the full Perazzi experience of creating a bespoke shotgun for our friend, Steven Berger. Video drops today at 1pm CST on YouTube. by @targetfocusedlife

We’ve shot tens of thousands of rounds with the 940 Pro, and now Mossberg has released the 940 Pro Sporting. We just got hands-on for a full review, and this may be the best-value sporting semi-auto on the market. by @targetfocusedlife

Christmas 1936. Hermann Göring gave this double rifle to Heinrich Himmler. Two of the most evil men in the Nazi regime, exchanging a Christmas present.
There is a brass plaque set into the stock. Roughly translated: “To my hunting comrade Heinrich Himmler, with hunter’s greetings, Christmas 1936.”

The gun was built by K. Gebert of Munich, a small-shop maker in a city full of them. Side by side barrels, engraved across the action and the furniture, and fitted with a detachable scope on claw mounts so it could be pulled off and put back on without losing zero. That was the high end of European gunmaking in the thirties, and it still is.

Then there are the sights. The front bead is oversized and the rear blade is oversized. Himmler’s eyesight was poor. A craftsman sat down and built a rifle around one man’s weak eyes.

Eerie to hold. Fascinating to look at. Both at the same time. by @targetfocusedlife

We’ve shot tens of thousands of rounds through the Mossberg 940 Pro, so when the new 940 Pro Sporting showed up, we couldn’t wait to dive in for a full review.

It’s light on recoil, the trigger is light too, and it moves smooth. Pair that with 30” ported barrels and reasonable price point, and we think this just might be the best value semi-auto sporting clays shotgun on the market.

The full review is live on YouTube now.

New from Retay this year is the ACE Paloma. We reviewed the standard ACE last year and thought it was a tremendous shotgun for the money. The Paloma was made for dove hunting but it just might be the best value all-purpose semi-auto shotgun. Review is dropping today at 1pm CST. by @targetfocusedlife
