Obviously the who's who of architects have touched this place it's a historical museum! Also the second oldest golf club in the country. Palmetto GC has stood the test of time and will continue to test the best golfers. This is certainly one of the tallest tasks in the Carolinas. I personally think they are the best greens and by far the fastest greens in South Carolina consistently every time I've been on the property. Phenomenal membership very proud as they should be to boast one of the top golf clubs in the south! I'm a huge fan of the short 7th hole par 3 with a drastic fall off on the right and anchor to the side of the mountain on its left. The finishing stretch is also fantastic and don't be surprised if you're not greeted by the palmetto mascot Ralph the cat palmetto own! This fabled club that has hosted presidents, PGA professionals, and amateur events as well as a great membership still is overshadowed by its neighboring immortal Augusta national! ACC deserves the accolades too! A tremendous course with excellent conditions, lots of undulation, & a really fantastic set of par 3's. Not dimension a grand club House with spectacular staffing, wonderful pro shop, and from my understanding one of the better showers in the game which sadly I will have to check out next time 🤦. We got a glimpse of the national from the top of the fourth hole in what appeared to be number 11 fairway at its pinnacle. The greenest green you can imagine as for my understanding Augusta national is about to reopen. Also tried to sneak a glimpse of Amen corner on number 8 where Raes Creek bisects the two courses unfortunately totally impeded! You would need a SEAL team to get in there 😂. This truly was a memorable day on a glorious piece of property in magnificent shape with a great group of guys. I love a classic Ross 🙏

There's a little backwoods short course in Aiken that has tons of character and funability called The Chalkmine. If you're ever in the area and golf is your thing it's a great hour spent walking amongst the native grasses. Jim McNair apparently built the place in 2022 on approximately 10 acres and supports the first tee of Aiken as well as USC Aiken. The guys and I thoroughly enjoyed it and managed to throw a couple close darts in the process. Certainly wish Charleston had something like this. #golf #golfing #firsttee #aiken #chalkmine by @tarheelnsc

Crooked Oaks at Seabrook Island

Seabrook is often overshadowed by its neighboring bigger brother Kiawah which gets all the notoriety and a claim! Rightfully so, however don't sleep on Seabrook. The conditioning is pretty exceptional and the routing is through Moss lined ancient oaks adorning the fairways with your typical rtj bunkering. The most impressive thing to me about the course and the experience was the framing of the fairways and greens were pretty extraordinary! The abundance of mature growth hides practically most of the residential homes which were tastefully done so there were really no eye sores to take away from the course itself. I felt like the fourth hole was my personal favorite there were no extraordinary holes but they were really no forgettable holes. Very fair test and a great group of guys made for a terrific day thankfully the weather held off. Side note the clubhouse is absolutely spectacular!

Great Dunes at Jekyll Island

Combined the Travis and Dick Wilson course to make a magnificent 18 holes! Truly one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf I've had in years. Phenomenal routing with absolutely no bad holes. Every hole had character and a few of them were spectacular. Haven't wanted to get back to a golf course right after I left the property in some time like this one. Truly amazing golf experience with some great guys!

Cassique is easily my favorite course on the island and one of my top 5 in SC. This links layout is probably one of the best routings in the low country. The course conditions have improved immensely since last time out. There are two routings the pulpit or the nip and Tuck. Enjoyed playing the alternate routing however didn't get the opportunity to play the signature par 3 this time which is possibly one of the best par threes and golf holes anywhere in the state. Without a doubt the only disappointment of the day. What a spectacular walk on a spectacular property! Tom Watson hit the nail on the head with this design. One can only imagine the native American cassique Indians at one time hunting on this property. One of the best logos in the game and a golf course in property just as good.

"Bulls" my favorite Strantz course by a Carolina mile! Mike was probably the greatest artist of any of his architectural peers. He was also one of the most polarizing golf architects perhaps ever. People either love his courses or they detest them simply put. While I appreciate his artistic genius I also am critical of his work at times as well. Ultimately I'm a huge fan however this course in like some of his others are more what you see is what you get, a little less diabolical trickery which I appreciate. This property is unlike any other in the low country there's more land movement here than anywhere you will find and it's not even close. Shinny in the South! The patio on the back porch provides you with a view that is as good if not better than any other in the lowcountry! Without a doubt one of the best sunsets in the low country. With a third of the courses golf holes on the water, it makes for one of the more aesthetically appealing experiences in the area. The 13th hole was probably my favorite such a unique hole bisected by water huge risk reward. The last stretch of holes is also fantastic coming into the clubhouse which has equally impressive views as the ocean course. Really enjoy this place. #golf #kiawah #golfclub

Yeamans Hall Club

This place simply put is "special". From the minute you cross over the train tracks and enter the gate you know right away you are on a magical piece of property and very privileged to have the opportunity. Commonly known to bring people back in time is an understatement! The amount of History starting with Frederick Olmsted which some know as the "Father of American landscape architecture" planned the community and the great Seth Raynor did the routing of this tremendous golf course. It's such a whimsical place which some say feels like they've been brought back into a time capsule. The amount of influential people in the early 19th century that were involved in this was impressive. The golf course is extremely Fair off the tee box and gets more and more daunting around the green complexes which are by far and away the challenge here. Firm and fast. Old Tabby on Spring Island

Coming back to this property was an absolute treat! Easily one of my favorite low country courses and one which is vastly underrated. There are numerous courses in the area that get more praise and are undeserving. This one goes under the radar most likely because it doesn't get nearly as much play and most likely has a smaller membership on the island then it's neighboring courses. The tranquility is the first thing you will notice with a beautiful serene drive into the property and an abundance of nature in and around the property. This place is an Audubon sanctuary. The course speaks for itself! The uniqueness from the old Tabby ruins to the Tabby tee markers are what really set this place apart! I love the routing with some spectacular views make this without a doubt one of my favorite lowcountry places to tee it up.
