Your support and interest mean so much! Writing has always been a quiet, me-only thing that I kept to myself, usually driven by anxiety about people not understanding that I like to do this. I know 150 followers isn't much, but it's a lot for me, especially after keeping this to myself for so long. 🫣 It's so vulnerable to show someone your imagination, but I've felt super inspired and loved connecting with like-minded people since joining Booksta a few months ago!

I can't wait to leave unhinged comments in your comment sections (I'm wearing my Polite Face right now) and get more comfortable talking about writing and my ideas. 🫶🏽

What's a girl to do when she's waiting for her first draft to be peer-reviewed as part of the @writerscentreau's Write Your Novel course? Start wracking her brain for a new idea, of course!

I don't usually have a process for starting a new idea. Sometimes an idea comes from a vibe, a trope or a concept I enjoy, or just me obsessing over a piece of media and wanting to figure out exactly *what* it is about this story that's drawn me in so I can explore it.

I only Pinterest board the ideas that stick for longer than a week, because sometimes my mind is a fickle beast. 💛

IT'S THE BEST TIME OF THE YEAR!!! SPOOKY SEASON! 👻🎃⚰️

You guys have no idea how much I love October! Halloween isn't a big thing in Australia (or at least in the circles I haunt), but I've always loved the vibes, aesthetic, and creativity this season and encourages… and I also love witches.

I wanted to keep my goals simple, broad, and, most importantly, achievable. There's no shame in this haunted house.

One thing I realised is that while I set goals, I never look back and celebrate what I have achieved.

I achieved a lot in September in many areas of my life, but here are a few creative achievements I wanted to celebrate. Were all of these on my goals list? Not really! But they're achievements all the same and deserve to be celebrated.

I debated posting this for approximately three minutes before I decided that, yes, I'm going to post it. It isn't like me to not say something on the platforms I have, and while I am merely a nobody in this community, it goes against who I am not to share what's important to me.

5 things I didn't expect to enjoy while writing my first draft… and one thing that still terrifies me.

1. Creating community and talking to other friends about the highs and lows of writing has been invaluable. Writing is lonely, and now I don't feel as alone.

2. Sharing sections of my writing has been invaluable. I've learned my weak spots, but I've also learned and celebrated my strengths.

3. Reviewing my friends' work has taught me so much about writing. I've loved being able to cheer them on and be their cheerleader.

4. Receiving feedback is still scary as hell, but my friends have never let me feel unsafe. I'm improving and challenging myself, and I couldn't have done that without them.

5. Killing my darlings is hard… and it's also kind of addictive. Whoops! 🤭

6. Making this account and sharing my journey is one of the scariest things I've done.
