Words cannot begin to express the outpouring of love we’ve received over the last two weeks since we lost our sweet Ember.

The support has come from everywhere. Friends, family, acquaintances, and even people we’ve never met has sent love during the hardest time of our lives. We’ve received beautiful artwork, meals, donations, kind messages, prayers, resources, and countless offers of help. Every gesture, big or small, has meant more than we can put into words and we have personally read every single message and card.

Seeing so many of you wearing red and orange on Friday, sharing memories of Ember, and picking up shirts and merchandise from @brandlabusa was incredibly touching. It was a beautiful reminder of how deeply Ember is loved and how much our family is surrounded by an amazing community.

This is a reality we never imagined we would face, and while the pain is unimaginable, your love and support have helped carry us through these days.

Thank you for showing up for us. Thank you for lifting some of the weight when it feels too heavy to bear. Thank you for keeping Ember’s light shining so brightly.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for loving our girl and for loving us.

You imagine, in your worst nightmares, what you would do if you were me.

You picture yourself in bed, like in the movies. Inconsolable. Unable to eat or sleep. Numbing yourself with whatever you can just to find a moment of relief from the horrific visions of that day.

But when the unimaginable actually happens to you, you’re shocked by how strong and resilient you can be.

We do lay in bed and watch videos of her. We look at pictures. We cry, we miss her. We let ourselves feel it all. But none of that changes what happened.

So I have a choice. I can stay in bed, consumed by my grief, thinking about her every waking moment and leaving the rest of my life behind. Or I can get up, try to do things that bring me happiness, and still think about her every waking moment.

I can numb the pain, or I can face it head-on. I can try to escape it, or I can let myself feel it, process it, and learn to live with it.

I am a completely different person since losing her. My perspective has changed. The things that used to matter don’t matter so much anymore. The things I once took for granted mean everything now.

I’m learning that choosing to live doesn’t mean I’m leaving her behind. Finding happiness doesn’t mean I miss her any less. And moving forward doesn’t mean moving on.

I will carry her with me in everything I do and she brings me so much strength but I cannot and will not let this loss consume the rest of my life, or define me. I am so much more than “that mom”

I choose to live. For her. For me. For my family and the life I still have here.

Get ready to walk, jog, and support our school! The Panther Cub Dash is a fun way for students to raise money for Vern Patrick without selling merchandise, all while promoting wellness, physical activity, and a positive attitude.

💙 WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
100% of funds collected go directly to Vern Patrick Elementary to support:

* 🏃 Schoolwide physical education
* 🎉 Field Day activities
* ⚽ Recess equipment

🐾 HOW DOES IT WORK?

* Students will walk or jog around a designated course on the big field during the school day.
* 🏆 Prizes can be earned for pledges collected, most laps completed, and a class prize. See the prize list on the back for details!

These lovely little lady entrepreneurs put together the sweetest store at the Kids Entrepreneur Market in Bend: Ember’s Glow Co ❤️🧡💛

A bittersweet weekend on our 6th annual Sunriver trip. Really missed our baby girl, but we saw her in the dragonflies each day. She loved playing in the shallows of this pool, and it was hard to see all the other little kids running around. But we made the best of it and are giving Kori every experience we can. We postponed this trip for weather, and Ember provided the most beautiful weekend. The trees are changing, but we are soaking up every last bit of summer. #remEmber #Embersglow taken in Sunriver Resort by @tarynndactyl

So proud of this girl! 🤟🏼 Yesterday was a really, really hard day for our family. Walking into school without Ember was something none of us were ready for, but we are no strangers to hard days.

I tell Kori this often: Being brave doesn’t mean you aren’t scared. It means you do the hard thing even when you are. And yesterday she was scared, she was sad, and she was incredibly brave. ❤️🧡💛

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by to check on us, sent flowers, food and coffee, wore Ember gear or strawberries, and hugged on us yesterday. Having our community surround us made an incredibly hard day just a little bit easier.

We are so blessed with such an amazing school. As we walked the halls, we saw so many memories of Ember and artwork dedicated to her, which made our hearts hurt and smile all at the same time🍓🌈

Kori got the sweetest teacher this year, and we already know it’s going to be a great year for her. We know her sister was holding her hand in spirit and day🪽 taken in Redmond, Oregon by @tarynndactyl

We went to visit Ember’s memorial site at Suttle lake today. We did some maintenance on it and organized all her toy offerings. Here is a quick video of the area for those of you that haven’t or can’t get to this beautiful area. With school starting up again tomorrow, emotions are all over the place.
