Hello!!!

It's been over a week since I started this account, so I thought it best to actually introduce myself a little.

I actually started the account intending for it to be secret and anonymous, but I gave up on that a few days ago when I realised I actually want to show myself and personality more on here.

A lil more about me:

I'm 31 (Ew, I know).

I'm in South Yorkshire, UK.

I have 3 cats called Luthor (Lulu), Betty and Void.

I have a dog named Wanda (after Wanda Maximoff - rip queen).

You'll probably see them on the 'gram from time to time. Because I am obsessed with them.

I'm engaged and will be getting married on 4th July next year!!! Damn, it's coming quick.

On that note: lesbian.

I love reading (obviously), Yelena Belova, and Mac and Cheese. I'm also a big fan of Dr Pepper and caramel lattes. But not together, I'm not gross.

I do most of my reading on my Kindle because I'm lazy and cba to turn pages all the time (I'm working on it, okay).

I sometimes write stories; but they'll never see the light of day.

Thank you Netgalley and the Publishers for this ARC 📚

This story is DARK, but what makes it even more unsettling is how believable it is. Unfortunately, this could be someone’s real-life story.

At around 70%, I had to pause reading to tell my partner who I thought the murderer was. I WAS SO WRONG. I would not make a great detective. This book definitely keeps you guessing.

The story is told through dual POVs: Sofia, a mother, and Kate, the young girl who died. The short chapters keep the story moving while dropping enough hints to keep you guessing without giving too much away. I also loved how distinct the voices were. Kate genuinely sounded like a teenager, while Sofia’s perspective felt that of an adult.

My only real disappointment was the final twist. Rather than leaving me screaming, “WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!”, it was more of an “Oh… that actually makes sense” moment.

One thing I absolutely loved was Sofia’s unwavering love and protectiveness towards Kate. It beautifully showed just how far a parent’s love can go. ❤️

⭐ 3.75 stars.

A dark, believable story that kept me reading and guessing, even if the ending didn’t quite blow my mind.

Genuinely do not know what I would've had read to me at this age but it was probably the newspaper 😂

I LOVED this age of reading and remember vividly reading The Worst Witch and talking to my teacher about it at school.

I basically had a reading club with my grandma in my teens where she'd read a book and then passed it to me. I read SO MANY Cathy Glass books in my teens and recently thought back on it like ??? ok girl you learn about the tough cases of fostering!!!

Specifically, You follows Sam and Taylor through an age gap strangers-to-friends-to-lovers journey, and overall it’s a sweet story about love, relationships, family, and finding your way.

Thank you to Bold Strokes Books for providing me with an advanced reader copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review 🫶🏼

I’ll be honest. It took me a little while to get into this one. Some of the dialogue felt a little forced in the beginning, particularly when it was trying to be funny, but thankfully this settled as the story progressed. I found myself becoming much more invested in the characters.

I’m really glad I persevered with this book because there was so much to love. I’m always here for strong minded women, and we can always use more of them!!!

One thing I particularly appreciated was the lack of a third-act breakup. There’s something so refreshing about reading a romance where, once the characters are together, they actually stay together and face their problems as a team rather than throwing away their relationship over a misunderstanding that could have been solved with one conversation (don't get me wrong, I LOVE tension too but this was just refreshing)

But for me, the real standout relationship in this story was Sam and her sister, Ellie. ❤️

Their relationship was written with so much depth, precision and emotional truth that you couldn’t help but feel everything alongside them. The way their experiences were portrayed felt incredibly genuine, and it really made me wonder if the author drew from something particularly close to home when writing this storyline.

Also, shout out to Myrtle. I want to be as nosey and savage as you when I grow up.

Overall, this was a sweet read with strong female characters, a romance I enjoyed watching develop, and a family relationship that really stayed with me.
I’m very glad I persevered with this one. 💕
