Dear Reader,

They say you’re either writing or you’re talking about writing. I wanted to talk about writing, but every way I’ve tried to do it feels like a distraction from becoming the author I actually want to be. So I thought to myself, how can I talk about the fact that I’m writing while making sure that I consistently put metaphorical pen to paper?

Word count updates on Instagram with pictures of me at my computer? Boring. Vlogging the process of balancing this dream with becoming a mom? Tried it, got caught up filming coffee shop pastries and picking theme music instead of actually writing.

Then I thought, what if the content I share about the writing process IS the writing?

Terrifying. Vulnerable. Thrilling? A potentially brilliant way to satiate the millennial urge to share, share, share while also making progress towards my actual goal.

I’ve been building this world since 2022 — years of drafts, trial and error, and a lot of learning about how to actually write science-fiction. Now I’m ready to start a fresh first draft. But, this time, I’m sharing it in real time as I write it.

>>>

The Assignment: Write the official first draft of my debut science-fiction romance (romantisci-fi ?) novel

Platform: Substack — a place built for writers who actually write, and readers who want to be part of the process, not just the finished product.

The Obstacle: Fear of writing something bad

The Solution: Use the pressure of a public commitment to overcome perfectionist inertia.

House Rules:

- This is a first draft, not a final one. Names, chapter titles, and plot details are all fair game to change before this becomes a self-published or traditionally published book.

- Paid subscribers are permanently honored as Founding Members of Gaimira House — a designation that can never be earned again once this draft is complete.

- As a Pledge (free subscriber) or Founding Member (paid subscriber), you’re agreeing to keep the House’s secrets. Some plot details will inevitably be cut from the future published book, reserved for a future reveal. These details are House secrets, and will be kept between us.

You can’t have something you never allow yourself to long for. The longing is part of the process.

Hoping for it happens on the road to discovering that you deserve it and are, in fact, capable.

It gives us the high we need to keep our eyes focused on possibility, while our belief catches up.

Even if things don’t play out the way we hoped they would, the process will have increased the baseline of our expectations for ourselves. Setting us up to reach again from higher ground. 💫

I’ve reached the point in postpartum where I’ve decided I’d like to be hot again. Idk what that means for me. But ✨watch this space for hotness🔥

Lean into losing yourself. That was my mindset entering motherhood. It’s one of those god given portals for stripping yourself bare and rebuilding. There is so much of you that doesn’t survive the transition. And thank GOD.

I love the Me I am because of you. 🤠🫶🏻

I’ve been so fortunate in my life to see so much of the world with my own eyes. Fulfilling a craving that’s been in my heart since a child. But, nothing could have prepared me for watching him see the world. Not just on this trip, even back at home. Watching his eyes light up when he sees something new. Seeing him smile when someone new says hello (or bonjour) to him. Hearing him babble back and forth with a waiter. I’m so grateful to have the opportunity to experience life with him. by @taygrewe

I don’t subscribe to anything that standardizes “how to get a baby to…”

You can GET THEM to do anything because babies are highly malleable and susceptible to conditioning from us. But that doesn’t mean something suits them because it accomplishes what you want it to accomplish.

Anything we do now just because it suits us they will have to unlearn later. ✨

Human Design helps me cut through the noise and know what advice and practices are for my baby and what I can toss in the bin 🗑️

It’s the last week of August 2026 and I’m having an existential sort of day. I became a mother this year, I turned 34 this month, my career shifted in unexpected ways.

My dreams got even bigger but so did my responsibilities. Isn’t that life though? You start feeling comfy cozy until the cocoon bursts open and you realize you were even in a cocoon.

Comment “cocoon” if you’re leaving your cocoon era and I won’t DM anything to you put I will send you 🦋 vibes

Chapter 1-3 of The Sterling Agenda (my sci-fi romance novel) are available to read for free on my Substack (taygrewe.substack.com)

Chapter 4 coming Sept 8th ✨👩‍💻

I’m also sure it has moments where it’s like, “Damn I had it so good in that cocoon, this is scary.”

My paid tier on substack isn’t meant to be a money maker for me. I made it as low $$$ as I could. It’s more a way of protecting my peace by putting a paywall on commenting as I learn to use my wings as an author.

I’m publishing three chapters a month of my sci-fi romance, as I write them in real time.

All book chapters can be read for free but I’m writing some extra posts for those who choose to offer me that bit of extra support in this journey.

Paid or free, I hope you enjoy. 🦋 by @taygrewe

Things I shouldn’t be afraid to admit as a mother >>

🧿 this post is for well intentioned eyes only. For the moms who will feel less alone reading these. The internet has bamboozled us into thinking these things aren’t normal for young babies. As of now I’m freeing myself of the burden of questioning myself over these things. 🙌
