What a night. ✨

Still shocked but very honoured to receive The Beacon of Light Award at this year’s @blackwomenrisinguk gala. Incredibly humbled that the team would want to recognise me for the work we’ve done together over the years. 🥹💛

When I left creative agency life back in 2019 to begin my TaylorMade Journey, I had no idea where the road would lead. Maybe a week or so after I’d made the decision @frodayss took me to a Breast Cancer event and introduced me to the beautiful @leanneperoofficial. Already moved by all Nina had experienced through the charity, I simply asked one question - how can I be involved? Just like that my Black Women Rising chapter began.

The team welcomed me and trusted me to produce some very touching experiences and venue takeovers for both members and allies, as well as some special moments behind the scenes.

But couldn’t share this post without honouring the person that brought me to the charity in the first place. The last time we all attended the gala we celebrated the light that was Nina Lopes as she received her own award for advocacy, fundraising and just being an absolute warrior. Unbeknown to us all at the time that we would loose her just a few weeks later. Hundreds of people joined us for her memorial walk with a large group coming from BWR which was of no suprise, because showing up for one and other is exactly what you can expect from this community.

Hearing our girl @stelar_rey sing the Goodness Of God in memory of Nina and all the phenomenal women the charity has lost over the years was an emotional reminder that stage 4 still needs so much more. So I guess my final word is where ever you can, please support @blackwomenrisinguk. A follow. A share. A connection. A donation. Your time. It all helps. 🫶🏾

I was asked the question at @diasporacalling what feels like home? People or places? And for me it will always be people.

So when THE Ms Hill’s team reached out and said she would love to find a way for @treasuretress to be involved in the festival there was no choice but to make it happen! Worked with her people to conceptualise a few iterations of this iconic artwork to bring both brands together and curate individual PR boxes for all the talent on the line up. In general I love a PR package brief but with all the people involved on this one - this was extra special. It was a race to the finish line to arrange custom event merch and no guarantee that there would be time for @jameliaisobsessed to present the box she had so carefully curated for Ms Hill. But God said ladies, have faith, I got you! The rest is history made 🙏🏾

So I go back to my original answer. When the music that raised me meets the brands that shaped me, events like Diaspora Calling are a reminder that you can be anywhere and you can work anywhere but when the right people come together (and on this occasion, the right music) anywhere can feel like home 🫶🏾

The @ukbbweek opening party can only mean one thing… the four day countdown until the @ukbbshow!

Four years attending and every year the UKBB team set the bar even higher. 🙌🏾

It’s made my heart smile bringing the @treasuretress bathroom, basketball court and hair gym to life at the show over the past few years but after @raphaelsofoluke’s inspiring announcement of @legacyblackmedia there’s no more room to play small. 😮‍💨

I was reminded a few weeks ago that in the midst of grief it’s important to remember gratitude. Today we lay you to rest and I can only be grateful for the memories yet to be made as we continue your legacy with your incredible daughter and the successes she has ahead. Grateful for the amount of time we got to spend that many don’t get to enjoy with their friends in adult life. Grateful I had the privilege to witness first hand what it truly means to inspire change in the lives of so many. Grateful you found love in a soul just as beautiful as yours, but most importantly grateful for the most life changing friendship my heart has ever known. You’ve taught me more than any friendship ever will and I can only be eternally grateful that God aligned our paths.

As always, you said it so beautifully. Friendship means love. So until we meet again. Rest well my angel. Love you friend 🥹💛

Every now and then there’s that one @netflix series that comes along and changes the game.

The @blackbeautyeffect created by the incredible @andrealewis is a 3-part series beautifully spotlighting some of the industry’s greatest black female entrepreneurs and the contribution Black women have made to the beauty industry worldwide.

Definitely a nostalgic walk through some of the iconic brands that shaped my childhood (been keeping it natural with an occasional silk press since the 80’s 😅) and a moment to recognise the gravity of our impact through the ages ✨ taken in Soho House Greek Street by @taylormadeldn

I promised a few people that I would get better with posting so here I am with what I believe they call a March dump (a week late🥴)

Kicked off activating at one of my fave salons @mimietmina for the @treasuretress @bread x @bleachlondon March Box masterclass. Kept it minimalist, in keeping with both the brands and the interiors for an immersive curl care tutorial with @louisdoeshair 💗

Indulged in more @bread (fast becoming my new go to range btw 😉) with my fave event co-pilot @justberyl__ for their U.K. launch @cafevins where we had the chance to catch-up with their incredible founder and grab a cheeky coffee✌🏾

Rounding up the month with my girl Agnes on the @haiti73agency podcast to discuss the aesthetic of beauty spaces, who’s pioneering the way and what trends I think we can look forward to in 2024 ✨✨ taken in Mimi et Mina by @taylormadeldn
