Photos from a four-hour display of immaculate rail riding in Feb. Opportunity is a concept often discussed but few things in snowboarding have provided more of it than @the__uninvited taken in 星野リゾート　ネコママウンテン - Hoshino Resorts Nekoma Mountain by @taylormboyd

Holy cow, you all are incredible. After reviewing 159 applications, looking at each again, then looking at some of them about 15 more times, most were worthy of this opportunity. A diverse panel comprised of people Pash knew and trusted, ultimately voted anonymously to determine @will_weisz as recipient of the Nice Piece Scholarship. To everyone who applied, donated, and shared, THANK YOU.

Some words from Will’s application:

“I think a lot of what I’ve learned so far has come from just showing up, whether that’s at @skibluewood, events like @brainbowlsessions, traveling on weekends to shoot with the @7bboardshop crew, making trips to Hood in the summer, and just finding ways to be around snowboarding as much as possible.

The past seasons I have rearranged my schedule, burned vacation time, and straight up taken time off, paying my own way just to go on trips, shoot, and keep putting myself in space to grow as a photographer. I’ve been lucky to have a space like Bluewood to hone my craft and that allows me to travel to shoot as much as I can.

@baldfacelodge has such a strong lineage of photographers, filmers, and riders who have created meaningful work. An opportunity like this would mean the world to me and it would be a chance to grow, be around good people with a shared love, learn a ton, and keep chasing snowboarding with a camera.”

The Nice Piece Scholarship is an idea @kujo had. With the help of some close friends we pulled it all together in three weeks and three weeks from now someone will be headed to @baldfacelodge to shoot at @low___maintenance.

The concept is for someone orbiting the snowsports world to find their way closer to the center of its gravitational pull. Along with the chance to shoot at Baldface, the scholarship will offer funding to help with things an up-and-coming media person might need: gas, plane tickets, camera equipment, a sled off Marketplace, who knows.

If you’re an up-and-comer with a camera you can apply here: bit.ly/nice-piece-app

If you’d like to donate I put the link in my bio and you can do so here: bit.ly/nice-piece

There’s also a photo show in Steamboat this Friday 3/20 that will help fund the scholarship.

With @kujo as our guide, @austinsquire pulled together the creative on a moment’s notice, @kcarrrl @torres_jon and @jimmyocd dialed in the photo show, @astronautsforhire flew to the Tetons to make photo selects from files that @bengavelda and @blattphoto have continuously organized and managed, @wizardlyfe is driving a truckload of prints to Steamboat, @erikleon_ and @goretex_flipflop made the fundraising component possible, and consultant @austinbsmith worked with @baldisbeautiful and @estellepensiero who graciously offered the opp to get someone to the lodge by @taylormboyd
