Adelaide Airport Playground has been recognised with a Landscape Architecture Award for Small Projects at the 2026 AILA SA Awards.

“Inspired by the Golden Wattle, the sculptural play tower transforms a corner of the terminal into a place for climbing, exploration and discovery. Netted ladders, platforms, and dual slides create layers of play within a remarkably compact footprint. The jury was impressed by the way the design works with the constraints of the airport, creating a play experience that responds to short visits and offers travelling families a welcome moment of respite.”

Great to be back in Moe over the weekend as part of Open House Latrobe, sharing the stories behind the Moe Rail Precinct Revitalisation.

Together with Enlocus and FJC Studio, TCL led a walking tour exploring the transformation of a former rail corridor into a vibrant civic space for gathering, play and community connection. From the flowing forms of the skate park, inspired by the Latrobe River, to the playground, public gardens and places to pause, the tour offered an opportunity to reflect on the design process and see how the precinct has been embraced by its community.

A particular highlight was seeing the skate park in action, a reminder that the real success of public space is in how people make it their own. Thanks to Open House Melbourne, Latrobe City Council and everyone who joined us for the conversation.

Located on the Country of the Braiakaulung people of the Gunaikurnai Nation.

What happens when noticing nature becomes a daily compulsion?

As part of the SA Nature Festival, TCL Director Kate Cullity joins urban designer and floral installation artist Sky Allen, and floral artist Rebecca Trevitt to explore the habits of gathering, foraging and observing, and how these small acts of attention find their way into creative practice.

Think seed pods in coat pockets, a composition of cut leaves, broken stems on desks and fading botanicals in jars.

Thursday 8 October
5.30–7pm
State Library Hetzel Theatre, North Terrace
Tickets $10, including refreshments

Book via Nature Festival SA

The bigger picture. Layers, texture, colour and contrast. Even at home, it seems the landscape architects can’t help themselves. Some compositions are carefully considered, while others are allowed to loosen, spread and grow a little wild.

Landscape architecture practice, Taylor Cullity Lethlean (TCL) and artist Emily Floyd are excited to announce our project for the new Queens Park West Playground in Moonee Valley, on Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Country. The collaboration, selected by Moonee Valley City Council (MVCC) as the winners of a design competition, will bring bird life, play and a love of nature together in an imaginative new playground for Moonee Valley families, set to open in 2027.

The design competition was facilitated by leading consultancy CityLab, in partnership with Council and the concept was selected by a jury comprising Georgia Chisholm, Landscape Architecture Advisor, Office of the Victorian Government Architect; Jocelyn Chiew, strategic urban design consultant; Jade Niklai, Former Head of Visual and Public Art, Moonee Valley City Council (Atelier Jade Niklai); and Mel Dodd, Dean of Monash Art, Design and Architecture.

TCL and Emily Floyd look forward to working with the Moonee Valley community to help shape exciting new play experiences for Queens Park West. Further details on the Moonee Valley City Council website.
