๐ŸŒŸ OPENING OCTOBER 16 ๐ŸŒŸ "States of Being: recent prints made at Tamarind Institute" - "States of Being" is a group exhibition featuring prints made between 2013 and 2025 by contemporary artists in collaboration with Master Printers at Tamarind Institute at the University of New Mexico Albuquerque. Stay tuned for programming announcements!

๐Ÿ“† On view October 16-November 14, 2026
๐Ÿ•ฐ Reception: October 16, 6-8 pm
๐Ÿ“Fort Worth Contemporary Arts, 3050 Waits Ave, Fort Worth, TX

Featuring artsits Ellen Berkenbilt, Jarvis Boyland, Nick Cave, Sonya Clark, Lucy Fradkin, Jeffrey Gibson, Harmony Hammond, Ellen Lesperance, Joseฬ Antonio Suaฬrez Londonฬƒo, Nikki Maloof, Liliana Porter, Robert Pruitt, Brian Rea, Maja Ruznic and Paula Wilson.

The selection of 31 works showcases a range of lithographic techniques to embody broad themes and compositions that draw attention both to intimate details and idiosyncrasies and to grand scales of color and form. Some works welcome personal consideration whereas others gesture more broadly to social and cultural structures. Works selected for States of Being probe the quality of layered tracesโ€”such as the way limestone remembers mark making, layers of ink on paper that make an image and the ideas conveyed within the objects themselvesโ€”as a way to understand the transfer of information and representations of lived experiences.

"States of Being" was curated by Sara-Jayne Parsons, Kay Seedig and Scott Sherer and will tour to the University of Texas at San Antonio for presentation at the Main Art Gallery, January 27 โ€“ February 27, 2027. by @tcuartgalleries

Scavenger Hunt Game ๐Ÿ”Ž

During the TCU Artist Collective โ€˜26 Reception there will be a game and chances to win prizes! The game is simple:

There will be a total of 15 close up pictures of artwork on display in Moudy Gallery. These pictures will be grouped into 3 categories of 5 close-ups. Players must choose one (1) category only. After they choose their category, they will be instructed to go into the gallery and find the corresponding artworks to the close-up pictures. Each picture will require the player to write down the name of the piece AND the artist. Once the player believes they have finished they will find Hannah (pictured above) and tell her their findings. If it is incorrect they will be asked to try again. If they are correct they win a prize!

IMPORTANT NOTE: there are only 3 PRIZES (one for each category) so if someone wins a category, that category canโ€™t be used to win a prize again. Because of this, groups of people or friends should pick different categories if they all want to win!

BE ADVISED: the categories and corresponding pictures WILL NOT BE UPLOADED UNTIL THE MORNING OF THE RECEPTION (October 15th). This is so no one can prematurely determine (or ask the artists) which pieces are which and who they are by. We want this to be a fun experience for everyone so donโ€™t be that person and try to get the information beforehand!

๐ŸŒŸ BRANDON GUNN ๐ŸŒŸJoin us as Brandon Gunn, Education Director and Master Printer, Tamarind Institute, gives a guest lecture in conjunction with "States of Being: recent prints from Tamarind Institute." Come learn the stories behind prints on view at Fort Worth Contemporary Arts, how they were made, and how artists and printers work together to create a truly collaborative lithograph. Through collaboration we learn how an artist thinks about their work and their content, something that can be opaque in the final imagery. As we talk about the making of the print, we will explore the meaning of the imagery and the powerful states of being contained within each print.

TCU ARTIST COLLECTIVE โ€˜26 TEASER

Meet Kirstin Williams! She is one of the exhibiting artists in the upcoming 2026 TCU Artist Collective Exhibition.

Kirstin gave us insight on her artwork and inspiration saying, โ€œMy painting practice focuses on contradictions and fragmentation. I combine different ideas of beauty with more grotesque and frightening implications. I play with fragmenting the composition to extend the unsettling aspect of my work, allowing my viewers to sit with the uncomfortable nature of my subject matter.โ€

Kirstin Williams is joined by artists Caya Crum, Anastasia Dubois, Hoang Danh Doan, Charley Gonzales, Brendon Lane, Merritt Maya, Logan Michael, Josalynn Patnode, Kamron Poland, Adeola Solarin, and Maria Sotelo for this yearโ€™s TCU Artist Collective.

The TCU Artist Collective Exhibition opens Thursday October 15th till the 22 at Moudy Gallery with a reception on October 15, 5-7, see you there!
