Taryn Lavery & Alex Pruitt — “An Orchestra of Supergiants” Leadership Duo @tdlavery, a Utah native, is a freelance dancer, choreographer, cross-disciplinary design artist and co-founder/co-director of Austin’s BLiPSWiTCH— a project-based dance company focused on collaboration and site-specific performance works as an avenue to community expansion. She is a current dancer with Allysen Hooks Projects, Performa/Dance and RushTopFish, and has worked with multimedia dance company ARCOS (2015-2022), Jennifer Sherburn (2016-2021), KDH Dance Company, TY&CO, Lisa Nicks, Justo Cisneros, Pearl Bhatnagar, Collide Arts, Dance Carousel, SEAM Project, and more. In 2023 she was nominated for Best Choreographer/Dancer in The Austin Chronicle’s Best of Austin Awards Reader’s Poll, and that same year, BLiPSWiTCH received the Critic’s Award. Taryn has a creative philosophy rooted in the belief that the way we gather and share in exposition is an extension of process, and she fuses her classical background with a desire to revitalize modern dance for broader audiences, extracting a new form of contemporary performance. @alexgabriellepruitt is a Louisiana cajun based in Austin, TX. She is a dance artist, educator, Pilates instructor, and mother who holds an MFA from Hollins University and BFA from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Alex’s dance career has taken her all over the world, helping to shape her style and mindset towards dance and dance education. She is the co-founder of BLiPSWiTCH, a project-based dance company focused on collaboration and site-specific works as an avenue to community expansion and utilizes this platform as a way to engage dancers of various backgrounds within the Austin dance scene. She regularly works with McCallum High School and Vandergrift High School setting choreography on the dance students every year. She has taught at many studios across Austin since 2010, and currently resides at East Side Performing Arts leading BLiPSWiTCH class on Thursdays from 10-11:30am. Two thumbs up for opening night! Two more chances to see this great show, featuring “Delighted today and yesterday” by @jairuscarr and “Reconstruction” by @danielbroxton. I am grateful and excited to be dancing in Jairus’ work and sharing the stage with this insanely talented cast @anna_bauer151 @egg.t.h.o.t @bysarahannie and the choreographer himself, all wearing costumes by @opensource_exbf
powerhouses, every one. Come out! @earlyeracollective presents Present Perspective Project Sept 3-5 @ 8:00PM @doughertyartscenter Tickets via link in bio “‘Delighted today and yesterday’ is an oddball work that presents an ironic anxiousness: an anxiety born from what we don’t understand and try to laugh off. Floppy, comedic movement establishes lovely relationships between the dancers, showing a genuineness that is dispersed and planted in a strange, absurdist world. We’ll travel through time, connecting the past to the present by way of small familiar narratives, a big headpiece, and Important Poses. As the opening work of our show, we will leave an imprint (as the past often does), lingering like a ghost.” Photos: @traces.of.life.jpg by @tdlavery

Official show announcement 📣 AN ORCHESTRA OF SUPERGIANTS September 16-19 + 23-26 8:00PM (doors 7:30PM) TICKETS GO LIVE 8/8 at 8:00PM The latest site-specific dance production from BLiPSWiTCH places the audience and its ten performers on the third floor of an office building, countless rectangles framing and defining the space. ‘An Orchestra of Supergiants’ is a live archive of dĂ©jĂ  vu: accumulated movement, sound and gesture that shape our personhood and reveal how little of human existence we are able to hold and perceive. It’s not about the office, but it is about how even our own memories are an echoing variation on sameness, eroding and distorting with each return until we are no longer able to feel their totality.  “We observe a fraction of the process, like hearing the vibration of a single string in an orchestra of supergiants.” - StanisƂaw Lem‹ Direction: Taryn Lavery, Alex Pruitt @tdlavery @alexgabriellepruitt Dance: Anna Bauer, Cellise Brown, Celeste Camfield, Ty Graynor, Katie Hopkins, Kanami Nakabayashi, Bradi Nelson, Lisa Schreck @anna_bauer151 @cellisebrown @egg.t.h.o.t @tylyonsgraynor @kt_hop @kanamdance @bradimckae @lisa_schreck Music: Michael Brown, Alan Kahler @michaelpbrown @ambientatlas @enjoytimenow Lighting: Natalie George @natalie.m.george Production Design & Costumes: Taryn Lavery, Alex Pruitt Photography: Joi Conti @joi.conti Venue Sponsor: Clayton Towers, Dane Jensen @danechristianjensen by @tdlavery

Austin Dance Festival (Part 2) — From air to water, I’m also dancing with the star-studded cast of Alexa Capareda’s “Poems Pondering Pools”, which “plays with the imagery of pools of many definitions, leaning into the atmospheric nostalgia, being in nature, and evoking splashes of halcyon days, finally venturing into the physicality and absurdism of synchronized swimming.” It’s a blast
come dive in, enjoy the incredible cast, and so many other great works at the 8:00pm professional showcase on April 11. “Poems Pondering Pools” Choreography: @acapareda Dancers: @v.morology @cellisebrown @egg.t.h.o.t @tdlavery @movesbyj_ @bysarahannie @melissansanderson @lisa_schreck @motherteresa_xoxo @camille.wiltz Music: Music from the Mountain Provinces (Philippines), Accumangulation - Nathan Patterson, Water Drums - Baka Forest People of Southeast Cameroon, Pan - LVDF @austindancefestival Saturday, April 11 5:00PM & 8:00PM (two different lineups) AustinVentures Studio Theater at @balletaustin Tickets via link in bio Photos 1-6: @joi.conti Art Direction/Concept: Alexa Capareda, Joi Conti Location Find: Sarah Annie Navarrete Dancers in Shoot: Cellise Brown, Celeste Camfield, @d_andielion, Taryn Lavery, Jordan Miller, Melissa Sanderson, Lisa Schreck, @kathleentiernan Photo 7: @hankntank (from @dancecarousel 2025) by @tdlavery

Apparently people really are waiting on my annual planner post (it’s not just a joke I use in captions), so this one’s for you @acbearclaire, just so you know I’m alright 😘 As always, undated, so I can fill in the dates myself and start in March (because what is time?), and erasable pen is a must. I can’t remember where I got this year’s sticker, but she’s cute and elegant. by @tdlavery
