Still trying to put into words how special this day was❤️

A room filled with connection, support, awareness, vulnerability, strength, and people coming together for something so much bigger than themselves. Because of every donation, raffle ticket, event ticket, and purchase made from our incredible vendors, we raised just over $5,000 for the Head & Neck Clinic.

I created this social for people like me. Because there needs to be more for us. More support, more awareness, more conversations, more research, more community. Cases continue to rise, and more young adults are being diagnosed every year.

To every single person who showed up, made a new friend, supported the event, donated, or simply cared — thank you. This happened because of you.

And then there’s Rick. The most special guy. Diagnosed 43 years ago, and someone I admire more than words can explain. Through every physical, mental, and emotional challenge, he kept going. He built a beautiful life, raised kids, has grand babies, worked all these years, travelled the world, and continues to truly LIVE his life. Seeing that kind of strength and resilience gives me hope in ways I can’t describe.

This is only the beginning — I can’t wait for the next one🫶🏻🎗️

She was 25.
Healthy. No “typical” risk factors.
And still—oral cancer.
What started as a small change became a journey of surgery, reconstruction, and radiation. A journey that changed everything.

Today… she’s on the other side of it.
And yes—she kicked oral cancer’s ass. 🤍

Tyra is now part of our team at Smile Haven, and her story is a powerful reminder of why what we do matters so much.
Oral cancer doesn’t always hurt.
It doesn’t always look obvious.
And it doesn’t only affect those you’d expect.

That’s why every visit at Smile Haven includes a thorough oral cancer screening—looking at both soft and hard tissues. It’s quick, comfortable, and could make all the difference.

Tyra is also turning her experience into something meaningful—hosting her annual Head & Neck Cancer Fundraising Social to raise awareness and support research in our community.

2025 was a long. freaking. year. but very happy with the progress i had with advocating & healing — this year i took therapy more seriously, i shared my story 10 times, i did a media tour with @albertacancer @albertacancerlottery - i attended conferences and spoke at them!!!!! I was able to meet/connect with new friends just like me. I was chosen to have earrings named after me, I modelled and felt comfortable in my skin with my smile + scars. I put God first and let him drive me, i was able to host my first ever fundraising event for Head & Neck Cancer that has now turned into a annual thing every April❤️ — through it all I am still showing my friends that this is possible, speech is possible… it’s hard but it’s doable! There is life to still live after this!

Although there has been many…many… lows where things around me crumbled — we still woke up everyday, found things to be grateful for, we still rise, we still pray & we keep it pushing 🤎

Dare I say, the best day ever?! If you know me, you know how obsessed I am with dachshunds so this day was special for me!!!! I think about these pups probably 10x a day… keep an eye out for new puppy yoga dates by following @stretch.fetch cause who wouldn’t wanna do yoga & cuddling with the sweetest pups around — a portion of the proceeds goes towards supporting local rescue organizations! 🐾🧘🏼‍♀️🫶🏻🤭
